Vegan pub, delicious Sunday lunch.

Lovely food and atmosphere, they often have events for free, today there was a live band. It's a dog friendly pub in a nice area

Pros: Nice area, Vegan Yorkshire puddings , Free events

Great vegan roast dinner

A very enjoyable experience at the Caledonia where I ordered the vegan roast. All in all it was very enjoyable! The main part of the roast was the toad in the hole which unfortunately lacked sausage as I only had a small piece and the rest was batter. But other than that it was great, the veg and potatoes were the stars of the show for me. One thing I would also say is that I feel like the staff weren’t completely welcoming unfortunately and was left feeling a little uncomfortable - maybe it was because there were 3 of us and we were the only ones in there about 2 pm on the Sunday. The other people on my table thought the same too. The irish trad music started at 3pm and that was a very enjoyable experience !! Lovely to see a fully vegan pub in Liverpool!

Best pub in Liverpool

A great vegan pub, with amazing food. Often also having live music. Have eaten here many times and never disappointed (only have a photo of the amazing roast though). Great staff too😄

Excellent Pub Grub

A great looking menu, backed up with a superb burger. The chips may look a bit pale in the picture but they were crispy and fluffy. A genuinely good pub too. Lovely spot

Unreal scran in such a nice pub. Had high expectations before my first visit and it was still better than expected. Also have board games to whip out at your convenience!

The ckn wings are amazing!!

So I ordered the ckn wings (with the gravy!) garlic loaded fries and a ckn burger. In most delivery places the portion sizes are not normally big, but the Caledonia really made an effort to provide a great hearty delicious meal! Would definitely recommend. #Veganuary

Vegan pub

The Caledonia went fully vegan in September 2017. Staff are lovely and a HappyCow sticker is now up on the front door! The burgers are great. Extensive menu plus lots of gluten free options which is always brilliant to see. Dog friendly!

100% vegan menu

Traditional pub with a completely vegan menu. Unfortunately for me only had a side/ fries to share but wow the garlic fries were amazing. Will definitely return to try more if I’m ever in the area again

No idea why it’s loved by so many

I always feel bad giving vegan food places bad reviews because we need more of them! But this place has only a 3 star food hygiene rating (which is ridiculous in today’s standards it’s not difficult to have proper 5* food hygiene) and it’s very apparent inside to the point where I checked the rating whilst waiting for my food. The building itself is cold, the tables were sticky and chairs uncomfortable, we had to wait a while as well for food which just didn’t taste that great to be honest. The employees were nice and friendly but it’s just not the cosy warm vibes with great food I was expecting.

Pros: Friendly staff, It’s vegan , Reasonably priced

Cons: Not clean, Cold, Not the best tasting

Decent food, big portions

Visited Saturday lunchtime, was quiet just us and other couple there. Really friendly staff. Food was really tasty, seitan bit on the hard side but that was fine with me. Decent size portions for decent price, £53 for food and drinks for three. Liked the quirky decor, a bit shabby in places but that adds to its charm. There's book's and board games available. We'll definitely go again

Pros: Tasty vegan food, Quirky , Dog friendly

Needs work

Food was just a bit .. eh. Ordered x2 types of wings (bbq and hot) which were fine but not a lot of flavour. Chip butty was absolutely drenched in butter which was just a bit too sickly. Crispy beef and salt and pepper chips were good.
Food was a long wait but they warned us in advance so this wasn’t an issue; however it was SO cold inside the building that the wait felt even longer. Everyone in the pub kept their coat on and it just didn’t make for a great experience sadly.

Chill vibes and tasty bites

We popped in on a Thursday afternoon for a late lunch. It was pretty quiet and relaxed in the pub. We opted for some sandwiches which were very tasty. Recommended!

Cons: It was a bit cold in the pub

Not sure what others are talking about

I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews. I thought the Caledonia was great! We went off peak and our food was hot and delicious. We did have to wait a bit though.

Pros: Huge portions

Cons: Longer wait

Really really bad food

The food was served cold. The seitan bricks were extremely chewy and were in every dish we had ordered.
Sourdough bread on the menu is just a plain piece of cheap white bread.
You simply cannot serve food like this to your customers.
Reading the other reviews makes me wonder if we were just very unlucky. But this was the worst food I've had me served in years.

We mentioned the cold fries, that was taken off the bill. Guy was friendly.
Also, there was a fun band playing while we were there.
Will give one extra star for these things.

The food alone deserved no stars at all.

Pros: Staff, Live music venue

Cons: Food was really really bad, Shabby interior

Good portions, tasty burgers

The seitan chicken is a little chewy and my husband isn't as much of a fan, but I think it makes for some really good wings. I also like the 'beef' burgers, and the portions sizes! The gender neutral toilets are also a big plus. Some good music sometimes, too!

Pros: Range, Gender neutral toilets, Portion sizes

Decent vegan junk/pub food

Plant-based pub - all respect for that. I had the cheese & bacon burger. It’s a little shabby but very popular & they have an interesting selection of draft larger and ales.

Pros: 100% vegan

Great food, though half of menu wasn't available

Went early afternoon on a Saturday, really looking forward to vegan cheesecake. Sadly, the only dessert on offer was ice cream, so we stuck to savoury food. Around half the menu was off. I settled for BBQ seitan wings, plus onion rings. my partner had burger and chips. Can't fault the food - full of flavour. Nice beer and friendly service. Like the gender-neutral toilets, too.

I felt that 5 x sticky chunks of seitan wasn't a balanced meal though - I would have prefered 4 plus a side salad and mayo. I fed this back to them and they were friendly about it. I'd go back. Would have given 5 stars if the menu options hadn't been so limited on our visit.

Zero Stars

Cold inside and waited 45 minutes after order to discover the food we ordered hadn’t been passed on to the kitchen so we left with no dinner.

Wouldn’t recommend, it’s also smelly and dirty inside

Great Food, Great Vibes.

Wonderful place. The food was f*cking delicious and just what I wanted and had expected, I only wish I could have had more! I was only there yesterday but f*cking me back already, baybeeee!

The overall vibe was just what I look for too. Music wasn't too loud, relaxed atmosphere, good service. Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff, had a lovely chat about food and dogs!

This was my first time in Liverpool and I will absolutely come back just for this. If you are a local then you need to go give it your custom!

Hell yeah.

Yummy vegan junk food

This pub was really cool. Up near the uni with music I like. It wasn’t very busy when we arrived but we ordered lunch. They had a 2 for 1 special as they have launched a new menu. I ordered a CVK burger and it arrived with chips and coleslaw. My partner had the Philly cheezesteak. Condiments were brought out and I had seriously forgotten that I used to add vinegar to fries so that was awesome! My partner’s cheezesteak was nice too. I loved the mushrooms on it. I had raspberry sparkling water which I liked too.

For dessert, we ordered the cookie dough. We could have ordered 2 for 1 desserts but we were trying to be a bit sensible. We got the baked cookie dough. It was a huge piece of cookie dough. We share this and it came with ice cream and chocolate sauce.

This isn’t an upmarket pub, more a dive bar which meant I liked it more. I liked that they had non gendered toilets and as we left, parklife was playing. Perfect!

Great junk food

Much like many of the reviews on here have said, the Cali is great for vegan junk food and is 100% vegan. Great dive bar atmos.

Pros: Full vegan menu (burgers, hot dogs, deserts etc), Cheap AF (burger & fries about a tenner)

Cons: They do live music so can be busy/loud at times
