The food was delicious…
Read moreserving was a bit small.
The pancakes tasted already sweetened… it didn’t need maple, even though i pored it on. I don’t eat sugar much so it was a bit much, still delicious.

The best kind of vegan restaurant - Edit
Fresh, real food that’s not just quinoa/beets and not just processed impossible chik’n sandwiches. The gyro was so yummy and fresh and the limonada was awesome. Really nice place to get dinner inside or outside and our waiter was so nice!

We sat out on the back patio in the shade and really enjoyed our first experience at The Ginger Mule!
Read moreOur waitstaff was so kind and friendly (Braulio was our waiter!), the cauliflower bites were PHENOMENAL (I’ve never had cauli-wings that good, ever!!), the pancakes were undetectably gluten-free and the whipped cream that comes with them was so yummy!! The omelette was the best vegan one I’ve had at any restaurant, and the caesar salad was perfect. I hadn’t had Tres Leches cake since before going vegan and their version was delicious— the guava sauce and strawberries really balanced out the sweetness🥰 the only item we ordered that I didn’t love was the lasagna— it was perfectly cooked and I loved that they snuck veggies in there, but I guess I was expecting more of an Italian-tasting dish, and this one had Mexican flavors (not sure if there’s cumin in it?)
Everything was so filling, but not “heavy.” I love that their portion sizes were HUGE!! We couldn’t finish anything and took at least half of our food to-go! Was so good! Will be coming back to try more on their big menu!
Update: went back again and the French toast was delicious! The birria tacos are a little higher priced for the small portion you get, compared to other menu options of the same price; the caesar salad was saltier than last time

Great Service/Atmosphere, Not-So-Great Selection of Food - Edit
Our waiter was amazing! He seemed so passionate about his work which made us even more excited to be there.
Read moreMy husband had the birria tacos and he really enjoyed it. He said he liked his tacos better than my fish tacos, but I disagree and I’m rating it a 5/5. The amount of each toppings that came with it was just right too!
I ordered the flan brûlée for dessert and it was pretty good, 4/5. I also ordered the ginger flare: 2/5. I was expecting it to be more gingery but it was very bitter and expensive for what it was.
I’m actually giving this restaurant an overall rating of 3.5/5 because of the fact that nothing on their menu was gingery at all. It was the reason why we chose it the day we went because ginger is medicinal and we were trying to combat a soar throat. Not only that, but their choice of food was just okay… the menu was kind of all over the place without a theme even though the food we ordered was good. And although the ambiance of the place was amazing, it didn’t fit their menu and it threw off my experience.
Another reason why I’m giving this place a 3.5/5 is because of their calamari. It was good, but it just didn’t taste right served the way it was served. It was also pretty expensive for just fried coconut. I actually took it home and added them to my spring rolls and it was 10x better. If the Ginger Mule reads this review, please credit me for this idea (:

Excellent Food, Excellent Service, Excellent Ambience - Edit
What a great find in a convenient location! The restaurant is really beautiful inside, the menu is pretty amazing, and got exceptional service from our server Michael. We got the Cheesy Tofu Sticks for an app. They were breaded to perfection and the homemade marinara was really good--fresh herbs plus a touch of sweetness. We got the Buddha Bowl Salad and the Be Strong Bowl for entrees. Everything was so fresh and the combinations of ingredients was superb. Only regret is that we didn't have time to go back on our brief visit to Houston to sample more of the menu.

We made it just before the end of the happy hour. Ordered the hummus, the cauliflower bites, and the portobello mushroom. All delicious. Ended with the chocolate brownie, served warm! It was to die for.

Impressive - Edit
I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of styles that they have. I ordered the coconut calamari as an app. It was a nice balance of mainly umami with a the right amount of sweetness. I was crazing eggs so went with the hearty omelette and added mushrooms. This was loaded with melted, delicious cheese and the sausage they used tasted so much like real sausage, that I had to ask the waiter to ensure that this was a fully-vegan establishment. I did find it bizarre that they had no hashbrowns as an option for a side. For dessert, I got the guava cheesecake. Not only was this loaded with scrumptious fruitiness, but the cheesecake itself was incredibly rich and creamy.

We went for Taco Tues and got two plates of tacos for $10 each. The breakfast tacos (served all day) were fantastic. The "fish" tacos were also great, but much spicier than expected (huge pieces of jalapeňo in the slaw). Also had the watermelon basil fresca which was delicious.

We went on Mothers Day and waited about 20mins to be seated. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I recommend trying out the French toast, enchiladas, and sancocho at this restaurant. They are all incredibly tasty and satisfying dishes that are sure to leave you feeling full and happy.

Went back recently for Sunday brunch. I ordered the Gyro with Greek salad. Everything was delicious however I was expecting house made Gyro protein not the Impossible sausage. I also took some tortilla soup to go which was very thick and rich, but my favorite is still the sancocho. We also took some carrot cake to go and it was very good.

Deliciously Vegan - Edit
Tastefully delighting vegans & non-vegans with comforting, filling foods, fresh juices, coffee & Agua frescas. Conveniently located in the 19th street corridor in Houston's historic Heights, Ginger Mule serves up satisfying dishes in the space vacated by the vegan restaurant Verdines, which closed when the owners moved out of state.
Read moreAll date brunch includes traditional breakfast staples; scrambles, sausages, pancakes & french toast.
3 course lunch specials let you build your own meal with a soup or salad, various main dishes & a dessert.
Made to order pizzas, usual grilled dishes, meal sized salads, filling appetizers, specialties, kids menu round out the offerings.
Personal favorites: cozy curry (it's curry, so yes), fried rice your way (build a bowl with protein base, Jiangsu style fried rice with just egg, aromatics, topped with your choice of 3 veggies), butternut squash lasagna. Very rich, decadent desserts, recommend them all.
Indoor & outdoor seating; charming patio space with overhead sails for shade, much appreciated in Houston's heat.
With other busy restaurants in the area, free parking lot fills quickly. Some Parking also available on side streets
Pros: 100% vegan, freshly prepared , Large portions , Moderate prices

Great atmosphere, food and service were both great! Went for brunch with a friend who is not vegan. We both got the Jupiter brunch plate. She was a bit worried about the Just egg omelet and vegan sausage, but loved everything. She plans to tell more friends about it. I can’t wait to go back and try more.

My favorite entrées (which are very tasty) are: The Cozy Curry, Fried Rice Your Way - Mongolian Cauliflower, Butternut Squash Lasagna, and the Butternut Squash Cream Soup. The cheesy tofu sticks are way too mushy and need to be much firmer and extra crispy.

Verdine who? - Edit
Was sad to lose Verdine but really glad Ginger Mule has taken their place. Tried the curry, the fried rice, and one of the soups.
Read moreThe curry was the best of the three. The soup came last for me but my dining partner enjoyed it.
Our food came out suspiciously fast. Would like to see a smaller, more practical menu with a focus on freshness.
Pros: Location, Taste profiles, Service
Cons: Menu is too big for everything to be made fresh.
