Solid - Edit
Located in the first floor of what seems to be an ordinary residential building.
Read moreInterior isn’t the newest, but it’s fairly pleasantly decorated.
Many traditional South Indian dishes on the menu - vegan labelling could be clearer, staff was helpful but not entirely knowledgeable. Had to double-check once or twice, but then it was all clear.
Food came pretty quickly. Taste wise good, I’d say 4/5. Sometimes a bit surprising flavours. Prices also reasonable.
Could be more interesting for lunch than dinner.
I wouldn’t mind going there again. Solid quality.

Really nice veg options, menu clearly labeled - Edit
Came here in July 2021 for a nice dinner. Kind of pricey with slow service, but the food was really good.
Read moreWe had the Veggie Light dinner (197 DKK) which comes with soup, fried cauliflower (which was amazing, and one of the reasons we decided to get this menu) a dosa, and dessert. I can't recall all the details but I think they didn't have a vegan dessert that day (we were the last table in the restaurant) so she gave us gulab jamun and my husband (who's not vegan) ate it. We also had Keerai Kulambu (139 DKK) which is spinach in a thick sauce of lentils.
The food was really good and it was so much we couldn't even finish the soup. The food reminded us of home (Berkeley, CA) :)
Pros: Very yummy, Menu clearly labeled about what's vegan
Cons: Kind of pricey, Slow service (but friendly)

Really nice indian food - Edit
This is my first visit at The South Indian, at their "main restaurant" at Vesterbro. And I am really satisfied with their food!
Read moreI love Indian food, and The South Indian definitely make some good Indian food. And they have a lot of vegan options too, so you might visit The South Indian a couple of times before you find your personal favourite.
And their vegan options is labelled too, another plus.
However, some of their dishes was a little disappointment to me. For example one of their soups is more like a bouillon. But other than that dish, most of the other I had was really good.
Another little minus, is that The South Indian are a bit more expensive than other Indian restaurants in Denmark. But they are also above average.
So my final verdict: Go visit The South Indian. They make some really good food, and offers multiple vegan dishes, including a couple of desserts.
Pros: Really nice indian food, A lot of vegan options, Vegan options labelled
Cons: A bit pricy

Slow service but good food - Edit
The food was good, not great. The service was tasty and the portions were reasonable. The restaurant is located in an apartment building. Nothing fantastic but definitely fine if you just need to fill you stomach.

Many vegan options - Edit
At first glance I thought I was in the wrong place when we found the place spontaniously. It looked like a very expensive restaurant. But we were very welcome by the friendly stuff and nobody looked weird at us ;)
Read moreThere are many vegan and vegetarian options on the menu and it is hard to make a choice. But my family and me have been there now several times and it was always delicious for all of us.
The stuff is friendly and helpful and you can order take away, too.

Super friendly staff but very spicy - Edit
Several vegan options and super friendly and attentive staff, very quick service. If ordering the papadums, make sure to mention you’d like it to be vegan as it otherwise comes with a yogurt dip (they have mango chutney instead for vegans). Somehow me and my family found the food - even the mild vegetable corma - way too spicy. Might have been just a mistake but make sure to inform the waitress if you are sensitive to spicy food so the chef can adjust the level of spiciness to your preference.

Really good indian - Edit
A bit of a weird setup, as the restaurant looks as if it's in an apartment, and the interiors aren't very nice. But the food was delicious, a bit on the heavy side, but very tastly and balanced.

Amazing Indian good - Edit
I’m of Indian descent and a very discerning/particular consumer of Indian food. This place serves very good Indian food. The dosa starters are great. The service is fast and attentive. They have a number of vegan options with a clear menu. Menu in English too. Will definitely be going back.

Lovely Christmas Eve alternative - Edit
Arrived for dinner on Christmas Eve to one of the few restaurants open and serving vegan options on the menu. We enjoyed three starters to share - the donuts, pakoras and popadums - then the aubergine and okra curries both with rice. Really good flavours, spiced well and good portion sizes. Reasonably priced for the city.

Authentic Chettinad food - Edit
This restaurant was just around the corner from where we were staying so we visited on our first night in Copenhagen. We had read on happycow that the cuisine was Chettinad, which intrigued us with lots of vegan choice and once we arrived and were seated, we decided to order the masala dosa and rasam soup to share as starters. The rasam soup was very flavoursome and well spiced with a lovely taste of tamarind, whilst the masala dosa was delicious with each of the 3 dips perfectly complimenting the dish. For mains we ordered the spicy aubergine curry and baby okra curry that cost kr137 each, with a parotta (kr29) to share. Both curries were perfectly spiced with a great depth of flavour and you could taste all the fresh ingredients. In total we spent kr518, which for Copenhagen is reasonably priced in my opinion and was certainly value for money. The staff were very friendly and interior was plush and we would definitely return again.

One of my Copenhagen favorites - Edit
This is one of my favorite places to bring people who aren't convinced to try a vegan meal yet. I've been here a handful of times, and every time has been a success. My company on each occasion, has ended up choosing vegan anyway and still been impressed.
Read moreThe place is cheap enough for a casual dinner, but might as well be a perfect place for a special occasion, date or business meeting. Cozy vibe with candles on the tables.
The food - especially the okra dish, as mentioned in description, is excellent.

Fantastic vege options - Edit
If you have not tested south-Indian food before, do it now. Spicy, interesting flavours! Try dosa, dosa - all you can eat, where's also vege options. We tried eggplant curry too (vegan), it was spicy, but npt too much. Nice service, beautiful interior and good location.
