Top Of The Tree - Edit
Been a fan of Tree Rooms for ages, ordering many a time at their market stall, so it was great to hear Sam and Jen have taken over the old Vegano premises, as they're such friendly owners.
Read moreOn our visit I had the Sunrise Stack, whilst my wife got the philly cheesesteak. Both dishes were superb, with the homemade seitan, melty cheese and the golden vegan 'dippy egg' yolk, a joy to behold.
We also shared the chick-ee egg cookie slice and a chick-ee egg deep dish that were delicious. A big thanks also for the beautiful 40th birthday chocolate fudge cake they made for my wife.
Pros: Great food, Staff, Vibe

great vegan café! - Edit
Really nice café style menu, with a variety of options but not too many, so the food is clearly fresh and done in house. the cookies and brownies selection is very tempting! Shout out the the shitake bacon bites and the dippy eggz!

So tasty..just what I needed! - Edit
Dippy egg. What a find! Worth a visit just for that alone. Wish I was around for longer to eat more but will be passing again. Owners are so nice, very sweet. We had a good chat. Sweet bakes looked unreal but I had eaten enough already so they are all on my hit list for my next visit! Always feels better supporting independant businesses. Waited from 0830 getting off the train u til they opened. Totally worth it!

Five stars - Edit
Friendly owner who at quiet times is happy to chat to customers, who is obviously a vegan herself. Starting out here with a simple menu but something to delight everyone. The dippy egg great with fries! She is developing an evening menu so let us try some tofu goat cheese she has developed. We ate savoury here and took cakes away for later. We will be back to try the rest of the menu and hopefully book an evening table as well. We were sad that vegano closed but now we are NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! 😃 🍴
Read moreEvening menu and hours are slowly being developed. The carbonara pasta has shiitake mushroom pieces on top which add so much flavour, very nice indeed.

Amazing food ! - Edit
The Tree Rooms is a name you might already recognise from the Quayside Market, with their incredible range of cakes, cookies and desserts.
Read moreThey’ve recently opened a cosy little café in the spot that used to be Vegano, starting with a small breakfast and pancake menu
and now they’ve added an evening menu too.
We went along to try it and were genuinely blown away by the flavours. I always order carbonara if it’s on the menu, and this one definitely didn’t disappoint. Everything was packed with taste and clearly made with care.
Definitely worth a visit! just remember to book a table!

Tree Cheers for The Tree Rooms - Edit
We visited for the first time last night, having sampled The Tree Rooms' delicious bakery stall at The Quayside a few times we looked forward to seeing what savoury delights awaited. As former Vegano fans, we were pleased to discover that the venue remains dog friendly and the interior although refreshed, maintains much of Vegano's ambience. Service was friendly and efficient.
Read moreOn to the food - we ate garlic mushrooms and walnuts and red wine pate to start; the mushrooms were apparently "perfect" and I enjoyed the pate, which came with butter on the top (the owner advised me of this as a previous customer had mistaken it for the pate and been disappointed). The red wine flavour came through but wasn't overpowering.
Next up was carbonara and beetroot pasta. The freshness of the beetroot came through, with a delicious salty tang from the feta and a slightly sweet bite from the walnut garnish.
For dessert we had cheesecake, which was served with cream and either fresh fruit or biscoff (I opted for fruit and no cream) and the house specialty of sticky toffee pudding, choice of cream or ice-cream.
Also on offer for dessert was an espresso martini brownie which sounded wonderful but I had already been wanting some fruit.
I have posted the daytime and evening menus; a house caprese salad has been added to the starter menu since the menus were printed.
Pros: Great food - all vegan, Dog friendly, Good service

Perfect vegan treats - Edit
Purchased from the stall at the Tyneside vegan fair where everything looked lovely however the real showstoppers were the cake slices! My only regret is not getting one of each. The tiramisu cake slice was exceptional and I definitely recommend trying some. Cornflake tart blondie was also the perfect addition to a morning coffee. Will be keeping my eye out for this stall in the future

Incredible cakes - Edit
We got a box of four cakes for £10 which was great value for money. We had the lotus blondie, Oreo cookie dish, snickers cookie dish and the chocolate orange brownie. I also tried the scone (only £1!). All were absolutely delicious.

Vegan bakery! - Edit
It's a complete coincidence that I often only go into my office on a Thursday when The Tree Rooms happen to be in Durham market place but you'd never know that considering how often I make flimsy excuses to go up and buy myself more sweet treats that I don't deserve.
