Over priced, bland, small portion

We got naan, rice, a paneer and a daal. For a couple we paid 600b. The portions were small, the taste was underwhelming. The atmosphere was nice but for the cost is it not worth it.

Excellent, more upscale restaurant

We had dinner here at the suggestion of our hotel. The setting is really nice and the staff is excellent. I showed them my trusty Thai translation card specifying that we are vegan. We ordered several Thai dishes and an Indian dish along with roti. Everything was delicious and I'd absolutely eat here again. Some have said it's expensive, and it may be by Thai standards, but we still only spent $33 US for 4 nonalcoholic drinks, one appetizer (really entree sized), 2 entrees, rice and roti.

Pros: Great food, Excellent staff, Nice setting

Delicious food in a garden setting.

We ordered the fresh spring rolls, tofu larb and red curry in banana leaf. The spring rolls were exceptional and unique, almost a moo shu like pancake wrapper, so good.

Pros: Lots of vegan options., Very good food :)

Great food in a gorgeous setting

It’s housed in a Thai-style building, surrounded by beautiful gardens. You can choose to sit inside or outside, but we recommend the latter, so you can enjoy those gardens as you eat.

The menu is divided into vegetarian and non-vegetarian sections, but they’ll happily make anything on the vegetarian menu vegan for you. We ordered ourselves a Thai feast. First up was tom kha kai, which was a food we discovered in Thailand and quickly fell in love with. It’s a spicy and sour soup with coconut milk.

Next came the main dishes. The pineapple fried rice had a slight curry flavor to it, and was delightfully served inside a pineapple. The pad Thai was delicious too, but my personal favorite was the house special that we ordered. It was an assortment of sautéed vegetables and rice served with what I would describe as savory donut holes. I’d never had anything like it.

Some reviewers said that the restaurant was expensive, and it is compared to other local restaurants, but our meal (one appetizer, three mains, two drinks) came to 3500 yen. That’s not bad at all considering the beautiful setting. The Whole Earth is definitely worth splurging on.

Pros: Delicious Thai food, Fantastic service , Gorgeous setting

Cons: On the expensive side

great vego options but expensive

I went to The Whole Earth with a Thai Omni friend ... the gardens and the dining areas (yard and inside house) were very well planned and the lighting really made a difference to the atmosphere... we chose to eat upstairs and inside the house and the decor was really nice and romantic ... we ordered 3 different dishes and rice and both the quality and quantity of the food was great ... relatively expensive however considering the great food, dining environment and the great service by friendly staff it was a really nice experience and worth any extra cost

Pros: lots of vego options

Cons: expensive

Sometimes one just needs to splurge a little

Just had lunch at The Whole Earth and was quite impressed. Although it may be a bit more pricey compared to other Thai places in town, it is well worth it. They have an extensive veg menu with both Thai and Indian options, great service and a beautiful setting. The dishes i ordered were very flavorful and the portions were large (enough for lunch tomorrow). Definitely recommend this place.

Pros: Selections of veg Thai food, Atmosphere, Service

Above the cut

Cool setting, good vegan selection and the food quality is definitely more refined than what you get at the average vegetarian restaurant around here.

We have been here for dinner twice and have not been disappointed. I especially recommend trying the more exotic sounding Thai stir fries.

You have to keep in mind that the tax is added later so all prices are abou 15% more than written on the menu. This is clearly stated however, not some mystery charge out of nowhere. This is quite normal practice in the more upmarket places in Thailand.
It's certainly more pricey than most places we've been to in Chiang Mai but really still really cheap for what it is if converted to dollars.
Definitely the place to go if you want a nice restaurant experience after all the buffets and street vendors.

Pros: Good quality food, interesting and fresh. Not your

Cons: All dishes are prices the same, including entrees,

great location, very pricey

Just ate their the first time, the building and the garden is gorgeous, the food nice but nothing special and VERY expensive. As a long term vegetarian I won't be returning as I don't feel comfortable eating from a kitchen that serves meat.

Pros: location

Cons: price , meat dishes on the menu

Very expensive, but always good food

Lovely location, off-street parking, friendly staff, good service. GREAT food, but very expensive prices compared to other places in town - and then tax and service charge is also added on at the end.
We only go here on special occasions as it's so expensive.
The Indian dishes are generally a good portion - the naan bread portions are very small for the price.
Very nice ambience - quiet, clean. Indoor or outdoor seating - all upstairs inside aircon room, or outside on balcony.
Take shoes off at the entrance.......the staff remembered our shoes and had them ready for us at the end which was a nice surprise.

Pros: Nice ambience, Clean, Great food

Cons: Expensive, Expensive, Expensive

Unexpectedly pricey

While the food here is good, the ambiance is pleasant, and the service is generally above average, I was very unhappy when I saw the bill. I ordered a late evening snack for two - one curry to share and one soda water. They spooned rice onto our two plates that I didn't know we were being charged for. That and the soda water nearly doubled the price of our meal. All the high priced extras felt very sneaky - watch your wallet.

Pros: Location near the night bazaar, Tasty Indian curry, Atmospheric with good service

Cons: Pricey food, Exorbitant extras like rice and water

Best Pad Thai in Thailand

I was in Chiang Mai for just over a week and I went to The Whole Earth twice. I had the Pad Thai and it was the best Pad Thai I've ever had. The location was also lovely, a lot of greenery and wonderful service.

Pros: Pad Thai, Service, Setting

Cons: A little pricier than some places

Mixed Salad!

I went there twice. The food was very good the first time, but was a trifle disappointing the second time. The vegetarian menu is quite extensive between the Indian and Thai choices. I did not try the Indian dishes. The ambience and the service are very good. Location isn perfect. It is on the expensive side, and would almost qualify as fine dining.

Pros: Ambience, Service, Location

Cons: Inconsistency, Value
