A fun treat! - Edit
Glasgow is a beautiful and friendly place. I was able to visit for a weekend with a family member who was eager, as an architect, to check out museums and buildings, and of course, most things having to do with Mackintosh. They sought after veggie places and wanted to have a vegan high tea, and that we did! Now, I have to find that one photograph of the tower of biscuits and sandwiches we had...

Great afternoon tea apart from the scones - Edit
I had afternoon tea. The sandwiches and cake were really lovely but the scones were awful, they were gluten free and the texture was bad. It was a shame as it would have been amazing overall if the scones were even as good as standard supermarket ones. The cafe itself is lovely and it’s worth a visit even just to see it.

Good coffee, small breakfast - Edit
You can order the vegetarian breakfast without the egg, but its a pretty small portion and you don't get a discount for it. It tasted good, but the service was slow too. It was very busy and we had to wait for 10 min to get seated.

Hummus & Pepper Toastie & Treats - Edit
HUMMUS & PEPPER TOASTIE (£5.50) -Came with lettuce, tomato and cucumber salad which was a very nice touch, with hot hummus and peppers. Nice combination. Fave dish!
Read moreVEGAN SCONE SPREAD (£3.50) - came with vegan butter and jam which can be unusual for places with vegan options. It was lovely.
GLUTEN FREE CHOCOLATE BROWNIE (£3.25) - was very dry tasting.
I would like to go back to try either the ‘Vegan Afternoon Tea’ or the Vegetable Chilli! The staff were very accommodating.
Pros: Variety of Vegan options (can request) , Gluten Free options
Cons: Expensive

Nice afternoon tea - Edit
After reading the positive reviews, my hopes were high for an exceptional vegan tea. The vegan afternoon tea was nice but could have been a little more imaginative. I was a bit disappointed with the very basic sandwiches, the scones with just jam and vegan spread, rather than vegan cream. The cakes were limited. My banana loaf was a bit under baked but my partner’s brownie was delicious and was definitely the highlight.

Cons: Sandwiches were bland, Cakes were limited, No vegan cream for scones

Incredible interior - Edit
Wonderful restoration of an incredible building and lets face it, that’s the reason to go! Brilliant selection of teas and drinks. We had the vegan afternoon tea, lovely sandwiches and scones but disappointing ‘had be frozen’ un-iced cakes.

Needs a Good Cleaning - Edit
I was excited to experience an afternoon tea, but instead couldn't enjoy the meal due to the cleanliness of the restaurant and the staff. My water glass was caked in black, gritty grime and when I asked for a replacement, they gave me one equally dirty. My tea cup also was dirty, but only on the outside so I just gave up and drank from it anyway. We ordered two pots of tea because our waitress said we "aren't allowed" to split one, which resulted in us each having a lot leftover and spending more than we planned. The avocado toast was vegan friendly and okay, but I was so grossed out by the time we got our food that I didn't want to eat anything leaving the kitchen.

Separate vegan menu - Edit
I like the new "free from" menu. Had the afternoon tea, very good. The place is nice and the Watt Brothers branch is indeed cheaper (and has a different menu) than the new one on Sauchiehall Street. Mackintosh design, plus a little Mackintosh based shop.

Mackintosh for Vegans - Edit
I have always loved to go to the Willow Tea Rooms to have a nice cup of tea in its gorgeous Mackintosh themed ambiance. And now I can even eat there! I had the vegan afternoon tea. It was very nice and great value for money.
