Best vegan Thai! - Edit
Love so many fun the dishes here. Fantastic pad Thai, really good curries, amazing noodles. My favorite Thai spot in the city and happily it happens to be all vegan as well!

I Would Eat Here Everyday if I Could - Edit
Completely obsessed with this place. Spice levels are great and the food is very flavorful but not overly oily. Highly recommend the Green Curry and the Spicy Eggplant. For appetizers, the Golden Tofu and Curry Puffs are fantastic. Portion sizes are generous and the veggies are fresh. Pretty easy to find parking nearby for pickup as well.

Good! - Edit
my friend and i went to urban vegan for dinner and ordered the veggie dumplings (fried), the orange chicken, and the chili stir fry noodles. the orange chicken was super yummy. the texture was nice and they were battered and crispy in a very light way. the dumplings were good, loved the sweet soy sauce. the stir fry was solid but i wish the tofu was fried. it was cut and marinated but not toasted in anyway. i felt like the noodle dish was overall kinda slimy. the one thing i didn't like was the rice that came with the orange chicken, it was purple rice which is fine but it was overcooked and very mushy. it really didn't add anything to the meal. i've had good fluffy purple rice and this wasn't good. sometimes people thing vegans like brown rice or something "healthier" and i think this was an example. if it was jasmine rice i'd be happier with the dish. overall vibes are good. it feels like a neighborhood spot, not touristy at all (at least when i went)

Surprised and disappointed - Edit
I was excited to try urban vegan because I love Thai food. I was super excited to see in the pictures that they still use a type of soy chicken that most places have replaced with something kinda spongy that I hate. So I was hype.
Read moreTurns out, this place does not actually use the soy chicken featured in the pictures anymore. It’s the soft, spongy stuff I avoid. I really wished I’d gotten tofu because I honestly found the soy chicken to be almost inedible. The noodles and sauce in my drunken noodles were fine, but I would have loved more veggies than just broccoli.
I also ordered the mango sticky rice even though it was $12. The mango was fresh and tasty but the rice had very little coconut sauce on it and was kind of dry.
My friend seemed to enjoy her pad thai and have fewer issues with the texture of the chicken than my husband and I did. If I went back here I would probably get tofu, but honestly there are so many vegan Thai options in the city I don’t see myself coming back.
Pros: Fully vegan, Sizable portions
Cons: Disappointing soy chicken, Expensive considering quality

Had the red curry which was exceptional. Pad See Yew was very good but curry was the best. The steamed dumpling appetizer was really good too. Nice staff

Phenomal - Edit
Amazing Tom kha Kai which can be hard to find with no fish sauce. Prarams plate and PET are also wonderful. The pepper steak is great in any dish. Been coming here for years and the quality never wavers, I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad dish.

Delicious and Welcoming - Edit
I've been vegan for nearly a decade now, and honestly, there have been many times I have been less than satisfied with restaurants. I usually try something vegan that I haven't tried before, so I can at least feel like I got something out of it. I wound up getting the Pad Woon Zen with the soy "chicken" and it was incredible! I seriously loved it. The rice that comes on the side is sort of bland, but I think that's sort of intentional to cleanse the palate between bites on the very flavorful delicious entrée.

Okay Asian Vegan Food - Edit
I got the pot stickers and orange chicken, and was a little disappointed flavor wise. It tasted just fine, but lacking sauce on the chicken heavily and I wouldn’t get the potstickers again. Portions are huge which is nice.

Huge varied vegan menu - Edit
Friendly and fun place to eat. An extensive menu that is hard to pick from! Ordered veg dumplings to start which were tasty. This was followed by mock chicken pad see ew - great texture on the chicken and noodles although the sauce was a touch too sweet for my personal taste. Tom yum noodle with tofu and impossible meat was great.

Yummy food! Great portions - Edit
Loved the menu options here! We tried tempura, tofu sticks, pineapple friend rice, pad Thai, orange chicken, mango sticky rice, chocolate cheesecake and some teas. All delicious! Didn’t leave 5 stars because the service wasn’t the best. They gave us our check before we asked and we wanted dessert. Felt like we were being rushed out when it wasn’t busy.

Best Vegan Chinese and Thai - Edit
Love! Love! Love this place! Amazing as usual and open on Christmas Day which made for a perfect feast. Their panang curry with tofu is absolutely perfect. The tempura is extra fluffy and cooked just right. I tried the impossible Jasmine rice for the first time and we gobbled it down. I've also ordered the orange chicken and pad see-ew before and devoured it. Spring rolls, gyoza and fried rice all excellent. Everything at this restaurant is above and beyond. I feel so lucky to have an amazing Chinese and Thai option that is vegan. It's the only place I will go to in Chicago for this type of food.

Urban Vegan is excellent for when you are craving a quick, easy, and delicious takeout meal. The potstickers and spring rolls are especially good, but everything that we have had on their menu is excellent. Definitely a place we keep on coming back to.

Literal perfection - Edit
Everything was amazing. The soy chicken was on point. The orange chicken regained its crispy texture despite the sauce and the portions were very large. Large enough that we filled up a take out box and it didn’t look like we’d had a single bite of it. A lot of food for the price. Nice servers. Quick service and tasty food. Drinks at a cheaper price than most Chicago restaurants too. 10:10
