First time trying Sushi! And it’s vegan!!

I had never eaten non-vegan sushi before this so I didn’t have much to go off of, but my experience trying Vegan Sushi Bar’s food was so surprising and satisfying!

We enjoyed 2 Bao Buns— one tofu and one mushroom— and both were fantastic. The Buns were light and fluffy (similar to those at Planta, iykyk). These might have been even better than Planta’s 😬.

We also ordered two rolls. One was their take on a classic California roll. SCRUMPTIOUS. So yummy. The other was meant to be shrimp. While I didn’t have anything to compare it to, it really did taste like I assumed it was supposed to 😂. All around, good time.

Pros: Flavorful!

Cons: Service was lacking a bit

Best sushi

There’s a fancy vegan sushi place in Paris, but honestly they should take a lesson from these guys. Every single thing we’ve had (including drinks) was bursting with flavour. It was a beautiful meal. Brought two non vegan friends with me and they said it was the best sushi experience they’ve had in their lives.

Pros: Must try side dishes

All I care about is vegan sushi

So as you can imagine, I was coming in with high expectations, or just pure excitement. The place is literally named vegan sushi, so there's no question about what you are getting into.

The music and atmosphere were both great and the staff was friendly.

We had the gyoza, boa, miso soup and two different rolls (one maki, the other Korean pulled beef). To finish it off, we had mango mochi.

I would've liked more tofu and less mushrooms in my miso soup, but otherwise great flavor.

Hilariously, a Japanese woman walked in while we were eating and walked up to look at the kitchen and said "I have to see what vegan sushi looks like!" and then proceeded to giggle and smile while looking around. This place is the real deal, do not skip either location - I wish they were in the states!

Everything was completely delicious, beyond!

Pros: Varied flavors, Delicious, Great atmosphere / music

Nice food, uncomfy high bar chairs

We've been to the other location in Amsterdam (downtown) and really liked it.
Was here for lunch on a weekday. Just one other person in the restaurant. Food came quickly.

Had
- gyozas 8,95€ (5pcs)
- crunchy wings 8,95€
- shrimpless tempura 15,95€ (8pcs)
- miso glazed tofu maki 6,50€ (6 pcs)
- no chicken teriyaki 15,95€ (8 pcs)
- bottle water 4,95€

Total 61,25€

Nice, but all in all on the expensive side.

The interior has some nice wall hangings.
Uncomfy seatings though. Only high bar chairs and tables available (which makes it also completely unaccessible for e.g. wheelchair users). I struggled to get close enough to the table on these!

Step to get in. Saw one toilet at the back. Ok-ish, tiny, bit run down and could use a deep clean. As could the restaurant room (eg plints).

Service was reserved friendly, just the bare minimum.

Sushi roll whisperers!

Delicious! Worth the hype. Sushi is flavorful, dessert is tasty, interior is cute! They do have a high chair for babies too. Small space so recommend a reservation ahead of time.

Matcha tiramisu

Only tried the matcha tiramisu and I loved it, it was very delicious. My only complaint I wish it was more matchay, it tasted more like a vanilla cheesecake to me.

Very original and tasty!

It is amazing to have fully vegan sushi and the menu had good variety. It had a modern touch to the classics which was fun. Good quality and fresh food. I strongly recommend the mushroom wings as a starter!!

Pros: Delicious Food, Afordable, Lovely service

🤩 Vegan Sushi in Amsterdam

One sushi sage and one sushi newbie! This is also a great spot to dine alone.
This was so fun. We ordered a few rolls, the gyoza, and one chik’n bao bun and one tofu bao bun. When bao is on the menu, we always order! This bao was so good - particularly the vegan chik’n one. Definitely would get that again in the future. For rolls, we ordered a “shrimp” tempura and California crispy roll. California crispy took the prize!!! 🏆

Pros: California crispy roll, Chik’n bao bun, So many options!!!!!

Cons: A bit expensive

Not as good as Arnheim

After being to their other restaurant in Arnheim multiple times, we wanted to try it in Amsterdam as well. But sadly, we were disappointed by the gyoza and sushi. It was still good, but did not reach the same level as in Arnheim.

I had a great time, my wallet didn’t

This was my second Vegan Sushi Bar visit and it did not disappoint me one bit. The quality of their sushi is always on-point. Though the miso soup could’ve been a tad stronger, it left me very satisfied. I will probably always find the pricepoint to be an issue though. It is very unlikely that many people will be full after just one roll for dinner, but said rolls start at around €15. With just 1 side to complete your meal you’ll pay at least €21 p.p. excluding drinks. I’m not saying the flavours aren’t incredible, but for such a casual dinner experience with a QR-offering system it is quite high.

Pros: Real wasabi, Fast service, Innovative and will fool your non-vegan friends.

Cons: Interior is just okay, QR-ordering (even when you’re the only table), Priceyyyy

Creative sushi

Very creative rolls with creative sauces. The fried oyster mushrooms are very good too. Miso ramen came in a thick and tasteful broth. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Heerlijke originele sushi!

Eten was echt 5 sterren waard! Heerlijke sushi en heerlijke combinaties. Wel prijzig. Geen 5 sterren omdat je via een QR code moet bestellen, dit haalt wat van de sfeer weg.

Simply AMAZING

I had such an amazing experience here. I ordered the menu and I could choose 1 entrance main plate dessert drink and it was about 29€, what I think is doable for special occasions or if you are really craving sushi, but I must say it is completely worth the price because everything was SO GOOD!

The atmosphere was super chill and warm, and the California Crispy Roll is simply amazing! So crunchy and the spiciness is perfect! The miso soup was a big hug on a rainy day, and to top off, the Passion fruit with Mango mochi is divine!

I had a calm lunch and took some time there just appreciating the cozy atmosphere and good food. I recommend it and wish it keep that way!

Incredibile! Purtroppo caro

Il sushi vegano è fantastico. L'ambiente molto semplice, essenziale. Purtroppo considerando che si tratta di un locale molto "basic" l'ho trovato caro.

Pros: Cibo

Cons: È costoso

The best

Vegan sushi is hard to find. There’s little competition either, and it seems as if there’s none at all in Amsterdam. Which makes this place surprising, they have no reason to put in that much effort, yet they do.

Cons: A bit pricey
