authentic affordable Vietnamese cuisine - Edit

Yi Shen offers excellent authentic affordable Vietnamese cuisine in a simple setting in Eugene, OR.

There is a plethora of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu with helpful staff to help you navigate some potentially unfamiliar selections.

We enjoyed the flavorful basil tofu vegetable dish with wide rice noodles. The veggies, tofu, and especially the bok choy were cooked perfectly to perfection. We also shared a gigantic vegetarian pho soup. We left full, happy, and look forward to returning again to explore more of the menu including nectar from heaven young coconuts also available on the menu.

After dinner be sure to check out the Asian grocery located in the same store as the restaurant to pick up everything from kimchi to sriracha.

Hand written menu on a large board that didn’t indicate what options could be vegan. Staff, though friendly, we’re not able to indicate what dishes could be vegan. Left to guess and then check with the chef.

Happy Cow doesn’t allow a five star rating because this restaurant serves meat, but they deserve the full five stars. Yi Shen is a great restaurant for everyone. Almost every item on the extensive menu can be made with tofu or just vegetables. They have dishes based on rice, lots of noodles, soups and stir fries. The employees are very kind and helpful. Servings are very generous and the price is moderate. The quality of the food is really amazing. There is also a cute Asian grocery store inside that has fresh produce.
