Straight up Fire 🤩 - Edit
In retrospect I’m almost glad I just came by as a tourist cause if I lived anywhere close to this bakery I’d have to declare bankruptcy in no time. And that’s not because the prices are unreasonable but because everything tastes and looks amazing. If you’re remotely close to liking pastries (both sweet and savory) this is a must do!

Perfect for a quick lunch - Edit
They had a small but appealing selection of sandwiches (which looked fantastic) as well as a salad, which is what I chose. The salad was nicely filling. My partner had the Mac and cheese pie which he found a little bit dry. I also tried the Biscoff doughnut — it was decent, though I personally found it a little on the bland side. I got a savoury muffin for later which was flavoursome and satisfying (the first vegan savoury muffin I had so far this time in NZ).
Read moreOverall, it was a nice option and I’d definitely be keen to come back to try some of the other items on the menu, especially the sandwiches which looked really good.

I don’t often end up near parliament, but when I do I always go to Belen for coffee and cake. Friendly staff; even better food!

This place is the best bakery - Edit
After finding out the branch near our accommodation was closed the other days we were in Wellington, we visited this one. On all of the other days we were in Wellington.
Read moreWe had various things, ham and cheese croissant, tofu sandwich, the cinnamon scroll, the apple crumble and almond croissant, and of course donuts!
The apple crumble croissant was tasty, filled with almond and apple and covered in crumble, perfect. The ham and cheese croissant was crispy and tasted very nice. The cinnamon scroll with the cream cheese was huge and also delicious.
I also had a soy flat white which was consistently good. My partner enjoyed their oat hot chocolate.
The lemon and rhubarb crumble donut was quite possibly one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The banoffee donut -amazing. The cream and bananas in the middle! The strawberry and chocolate ring donut we had was also delicious.
I also enjoyed the tiramisu brownie I got as take away.
They have a good space to sit in and it was busy.
Staff were absolutely lovely too.
I’m just sad I didn’t have time to try everything. Excellent bakery.

Wello’s Own Vegan Bakery - Edit
I chanced upon this whilst exiting the airport, and was stoked to learn they had a few other outlets in town. If i was in town longer i definitely would have returned a few more times, but as it was only had one visit.
Read moreTo be completely honest, the food looks a good sight better than it tastes - the savory stuff I found pretty stodgy and not as good as their looks indicated - but the desserts were pretty scrummy and the coffee was decent.
Pros: All-vegan sweets and savoury, Several locations, An *airport* outlet
Cons: Food looks far more incredible than it tastes, Slight attitude from certain (young) waitstaff

How good is Belen! - Edit
Belen Bakery at Wellington Airport had a great array of options - it's hard to choose! I had the ham n cheese croissant, which was hot and delicious, and the blueberry basil doughnut, which was good, but I couldn't detect the basil - my SO could. I took a cheese scone for later, and that, sadly, was average. Perhaps it is not a good idea to try and recreate something that is dependent on real cheese for its decadent yumminess. The drip coffee was surprisingly good.

10/10 - Edit
Really good food and doughnuts, with the range constantly changing. The front of the cafe was open and it was pouring with rain, but the cafe itself was still lovely and warm. Not sure how they managed that - magic maybe?

Amazing Vegan Food - Edit
I was in the area after using the cable car and was looking for a place to have lunch. I came upon this eatery and was blown away upon entering and seeing the amount of options they had, from salads to sandwiches and desserts-all vegan! I ended up trying their kale salad with falafel, tofu katsu sandwich, raspberry lemon cheesecake donut, and their cookies and cream latte that was being offered that day. Amazing all around. Highly recommend stopping here when in the city.

such a lifesaver for a sweet tooth like me. it's right in the centre of the city too! the birthday cake donut might be one of the best things i've ever eaten. they offer hot drinks, savoury food and sweet food so it's perfect for a brunch treat.

Amazing Bakery - Edit
I originally went there for some sweets, but after seeing the food, I decided to have lunch instead. I went for a quinoa salad with pumpkin and chickpeas, paired with a pumpkin tart, and a matcha with soy milk. Everything was incredibly tasty! I also grabbed a cookie to take away, and I can't even describe how amazing the texture was—it was truly exceptional! The flavor was just as fantastic. The seating area was lovely, and the staff was really friendly. There were so many tempting options in the display, making it hard to choose. Overall, I highly recommend this bakery—it's absolutely awesome!

More of a cafe than a bakery - Edit
Really nice cafe, but I wouldn't call it a bakery. No bread for sale, but a good range of sweet and savory food, coffee etc. Few tables to sit at but it gets very popular around lunchtime.

mac n cheese pie!!!! - Edit
the pie was fantastic! they had a huge selection of vegan sweets and 3 pie options. I loved the Mac and cheese pie, kinda smoky with bacon throughout. I had the biscoff crookie too but it wasn’t super flavourful. all in all I would recommend for the huge array of vegan choices.

Delicious food that’s a win with everyone - Edit
I love Belén and have been going to them consistently right from their first store. Delicious doughnuts, sandwiches, coffees and other sweet/savoury treats. I’m always spoilt for choice coming here - so many delicious options to choose from! A great spot for takeaway morning tea/lunch in particular. Loved by vegans and non-vegans - a winner all round. Also has good gluten free options.
