Serves meat, vegan options available. Small Italian restaurant offering a few marked vegan items with starters, mains and desserts. Open Wed-Fri 11:00-14:00, Wed-Thu 17:00-22:00, Fri 17:00-23:00, Sat 13:00-23:00.
We went here a year ago, soon after the place had opened but I forgot to share my experience then.
I booked a table by email under the impression that they served vegan risotto. Their chef replied: "we don't make vegan risotto because it would not be a risotto (if it was vegan)." I replied briefly, mentioning that in my experience a vegan version can be just as good if not better.
A bit annoyed by the chef's conservative views, we decided to go and try the place out anyways as it was right around the corner to us and had some vegan options in the menu at least.
Right when we arrived, the chef greeted us, apparently remembered the previous email conversation and started a live version, sharing the same traditionalist viewpoints again. At this point, I got a bit frustrated as I realised he didn't want to let it go and even felt that I had challenged him with my email response (lol). My companion felt this too so we tried our best to have minimum interaction with the chef. However, the place is pretty small and the chef's attention was on us the whole time which made it difficult to enjoy the food, even if I recall my tomato pasta dish being ok-good.
The chef couldn't read the situation and continued his irrational ramblings to us, until the moment we were paying at the bar and about the leave, about how "certain traditional Italian dishes simply can't be made vegan" and also mentioned how he is a bit of a "partisan" at heart and probably passionate about these things because of that. It was super cringe.. We briefly explained him how we simply don't eat animals because we respect them and how it would be nice to be able to just relax, eat nice vegan food and not argue with the chef when we're in a restaurant. After this, he seemed a bit embarrassed about the overall situation but was incapable to fix it in any way.
We left as fast as we could and I doubt we'll ever go back.
I always want to come here since there is something delicious on to menu for everyone - for vegetarians, vegans and meat-eaters. Daily Dose is a true and authentic Italian restaurant, you can be sure to be treated as a king or queen, no matter what your culinaristic desires are. A strong recommendation for this place!
