Cauliflower tostada yum!

I went here with omnis and we all had a good meal. I did not experience any surprise non-vegan ingredients in my dishes that were labeled vegan , so perhaps they have corrected previous issues after it was brought to their attention (thanks community!). I had vegan taco with sweet potato and kale (ok), ensalata de dona (very nice), and the cauliflower tostada (outstanding!). The tortilla chips were too thick for my taste, but I didn’t say no… Overall a good meal. I like the variety of seating options and the casual setting.

Pros: Cauliflower tostada , Seating options indoor/outdoor/bar/upstairs

Cons: Tortilla chips, Would love more vegan taco options, Vegan options low on protein

High vegan tax

Nothing on the menu is automatically vegan, but you can ask to have the dairy omitted. I ordered a veggie burrito without cheese and crema, which the cashier gladly excluded, then I asked to add guacamole since it wasn’t listed in the ingredients and she gladly added avocado for $3.50 extra.

Pros: Cute location and building , Good music

Cons: Small burrito, Charge an outrageous vegan tax , Annoying

They think dairy is vegan

This whole time they had told us the tacos were vegan, but it turns out they contain dairy. Their menu says "v" next to the tacos, and at the bottom of their menu it says "v means vegan". but really on "v" menu items they use cow cheese and cow milk. Then they blame you for not knowing that their cheese isnt dairy free even though it's labeled vegan. This is really dangerous for people with allergies. Sadly I had eaten here many times before they realized that putting vegan next to items that have dairy is incorrect labeling. They didn't realize that dairy isn't vegan. Staff also didn't know what vegan meant when I asked about it, and they were extremely rude about it. They blame their customers for mistakes of the company, then try to argue with you about it. I'll never be bringing my family here again due to how we were treated tonight. Their menu even said v means vegan and vt means vegetarian. Turns out they didn't care to use labels properly

Sorry to hear, and I agree about the annoying confusion of V and VT.
I go there all the time and have no issues getting vegan. They did screw up a ton of times when they moved to this location (iirc, in 2019?) and after returning the mistake every time, I think we trained them, lol. Just have to ask to hold any crema or cheese. It is soooo good and one of my fav burritos.

I'm relieved to hear that you've been able to make it work! I was really sad when this kept happening, and I loved this place too, so it was a shame. Now I really like Taqueria La Venganza on Telegraph, they're fully vegan so it saves me the headache. It's some of the best Mexican food I've had! If you haven't tried yet, I highly recommend the carne asada burrito. Then you'll have two great places to get burritos 😋

Good but???

This place is pretty cool. Lots of outdoor dining and indoor too. I had the bowl with veggie. I reconfirmed that no dairy or eggs that I'm vegan with the cashier. He said no dairy or eggs.
I ordered the coffee horchata that's made with coconut milk.
My food came out and I noticed that there was some what looked like cheese sprinkles on it. Not sure what it was I scraped it off and ate my meal. After the meal I went to the order line and asked if they had vegan cheese and they said no. I was very clear with the order taker about vegan. He looked the order up ( I did not see the screen ) and he said it was noted that no cheese and the kitchen made the mistake. He did say that they were fast and should have sent it back for a redo.

So I guess stuff happens........... still was a good meal and I would come back!

So, it turns out the owner thought dairy is vegan and labeled all the menus wrong. Wasnt a one time mistake unfortunately

That’s pretty F’ing stupid on their part. I usually say no cheese anyway. I’ll be looking at this BS situation. This really sucks.

I edited the page with this. Not sure how HC will edit it into the description.

When ordering you need to be very specific stating you are vegan. BTW, they do NOT have vegan cheese. Off the menu........ (v) vegan or can be modified to vegan. What exactly does that mean?

I emailed the restaurant asking also.
