Down the Hatch

Would recommend, the sundae was amazing!! Wish I got a burger instead of the wings though - as they were a small plate they weren’t filling.
Book in advance, as I had to wait an hour for a table

Worth a visit

I’ve been in Liverpool 2 nights for a conference, luckily found this on the first night, and came back for the second. Had Chinese the first night, then tofu meatballs and seitan wings the second. Lovely friendly staff, quick service, good selection. Cosy basement vibe, nice atmosphere, didn’t feel uncomfortable at all there eating alone. The lemon beer is great too.

Pros: Staff, Atmosphere , Food choice

Cons: One ‘healthy’ option would be great buda bowl type

Amazing vegan restaurant

This place is wonderful for people with many dietary needs. I brought 10 meat-eaters here for my birthday as I am vegan and they all really enjoyed the food.

The vibe of the restaurant is very nice and calming and service was good and friendly.

The burgers and chicken wings are incredible here I would highly recommend. In addition their milkshakes are delicious.

I am sad to move away from Liverpool as I can’t easily access this restaurant.

Pros: Wide variety of options, Taste of all meals I’ve tried, Atmosphere

Yummie vegan goodness

Went there for lunch and was surprised by their very cool early bird special with unlimited drinks. Such a cool concept.
The food was great, albeit a bit too much for me, but I was able to take home a doggy bag free of charge.
Will be coming back to try some more stuff next time I’m in Liverpool.

Fantastic food!

Came here with my family during a trip to Liverpool. I had the salt and pepper tofu with noodles, my daughter had the char swoo chicken with noodles and my husband had an Apple Jack's BBQ burger. All the meals were delicious. The service was great and we liked the general atmosphere of the place.

Pros: Tasty food, Good prices, Good service

Looking for comfort food

Really cool place with warm vibe. Fantastic service. We had sweetcorn ribs and frickles to start which were delicious. For mains, hubby had the carbonara which he said was really tasty and satisfying. I had the Woo tan burger with salad and coleslaw. This was tasty and a sizeable portion. There was a bit too much sauce for my liking and the tofu was ‘floppy’. Maybe better with crispy fried tofu and then the sauce applied at the time of cooking rather than as a marinaded?

Pros: Great vibe and service , Tasty and varied menus, Lovely cocktails

Cons: Woo tan burger needs to be more burger-like

OMG 😱 if you want dirty vegan food get here!

I’ve been to down the hatch a fair few times for drinks but have never eaten here. Damn wth was I thinking? I’m vegan heaven!! Recently tried woo tan scran for the very first time and I’ll certainly be getting it again! 100% plant based Chinese food now that’s what I’m talking about 🤤

Vegan junk food

Great comfort food dishes with good portions. Service was very thoughtful too. Not the healthiest place to eat but definitely recommended for a cheat meal!

Spoilt for choice

So hard deciding what to order here as they have so many options, from goan curry, to seafood chowder to all the classic junk food options like mac&cheese and huge burgers! Portions are large! When I visited they were also serving a menu from another vegan business ‘Woo Tan Scran’

Pros: Large portions, Wide variety of options

It’s been a while!

Haven’t visited in so long, had the seitan wings & kebabish and I devoured it! The staff are always lovely, the food was amazing years ago & it’s still amazing now! I’ll be back next week for my birthday 👌🏼

Pros: Plenty of options, Nice cozy setting, Staff were more than happy to help

Incredible vegan scran!

My partner and I popped in on our trip to Liverpool, and the food was incredible. We had seitan wings to start, then the salt and pepper burger and the mac and cheese burger. The frickles and calamari sides were just delicious.

Pros: Great service, Amazing flavours

And right down the hatch it goes!

A very unassuming place from the outside, but once inside it is quite amazing.
A great range of items on the daily menu, plus a Sunday roast and Moo Tan Scran. Check out my photographs and your get a good idea of what the have. And everything is made on the premises.
Celebrating 7 years in Liverpool - it's great!

Pros: Vegan , Variety , Bigger on the inside than the outside

The food was lovely but even though we booked a table, we felt rushed to leave, as they were busy and had walk ins waiting for tables.

Fantastic

Good food. The seitan chicken wings weren't fantastic and the risotto was maybe a bit over cooked, but I'm going back tomorrow for more food.

Pros: The range of options

Very good! Need to try more!

I don't often visit Liverpool and I really wanted to try this place. I was feeling a little under the weather so just got a small plate and cake but they were both very very good!
I'd make the trip back to try more!

down the hatch it went

we had absolutely delicious burgers at down the hatch last night. there was a great selection of food and everything was vegan by default. the staff were lovely and the atmosphere was charming. it's currently not wheelchair accessible, although I believe this is temporary. the food came quickly and the portion sizes were really generous - we ended up taking our sides home for a midnight snack.

Pros: great cocktail selection, generous portion sizes

Cons: not great beer selection

Totally vegan with veggie options

Wow
Really friendly helpful team, happy to explain menu. All was vegan but if you didn’t want vegan cheese you could have regular cheeses. We had cocktails to start- both were fabulous, then followed with 3 tapas starters. Garlic mushrooms with pita bread, dirty Patatas bravas with sausage & Seitan wings with jäger sauce. All great flavours & served with salad and beetroot slaw. We had a burger royale & moussaka for mains- both delicious. Finally had a Winter C Rum Ble as a cocktail dessert- pear liqueur , cinnamon, vegan cream, digestives - 🌟🌟🌟

Disappointed

Having wanted to visit for a long time, I visited for a much anticipated Sunday lunch.
Unfortunately, the service was really below par and the food was average at best. The cauliflower in the cauliflower cheese was black and tasted burnt, the kale was tough and the cookie dough didn't materialize before I had to leave. I was there three hours and they only managed to eventually serve one course during that time.
Very disappointed, especially as I'd made over a hundred mile round trip to eat there.
If I'm in Liverpool again, I'll give them another try in a much smaller group, as they don't seem able to cope with large group bookings but I certainly won't make a special trip just to go there again, sadly.

Pros: It's vegan

Cons: Wait time, Service , Food
