Super tasty food - Edit
I went here as I was visiting Liverpool and I really wish it could open a location where I live. Great menu, I found it really hard to decide but ended up getting the chickn bao buns and the meatball loaded fries. Lovely waitress who served me and the food was piping hot. One gripe is that it’s pretty expensive, but as a sadly just a one off, it was definitely worth it.

I used to love eating here when it first opened and did for a couple of years. After a bad experience in 2021 I didn't go back again until last week and this week.
Read moreLast week I ordered mac and cheese and the fish and chips and the fish and chips were nice, which came with mushy peas and curry sauce instead of tartare sauce which I'd have preferred instead. The mac and cheese was quite a small portion and unfortunately is very bland and tasteless. I remember ordering this 7 years ago and felt the same then but thought it may have improved in time but sadly not. I had a biscoff milkshake for dessert though which was lovely!
This week I went with a friend and we both ordered wings, he ordered seitan and I ordered mushroom (salt and pepper seasoning). I thought they lacked flavour and didn't realise I was given the wrong ones, the server actually told us and gave us the correct ones and apologised and was really nice. Unfortunately the salt and pepper flavour was harsh and tasted overly of nutmeg or something similar, not what I'm typically used to in other establishments and I'm sure these were also seitan (not mushroom) as the texture didn't seem right and they were very dry. After this realisation I asked to change my main order before they prepared it as I ordered salt and pepper mushroom burger and she said that was fine, I wasn't sure what else to order so quickly so I ordered the fish and chips again. We both got dessert, the brownie and ice cream was nice but quite a small portion and my friend thought the same about his cheesecake.
Overall I think the menu needs a bit of a spruce, I feel like it hasn't really changed or evolved much since it first opened. Some of the food is nice but I think there are better options. This place does have a lot of 5 star reviews though so I may be in the minority!

Are here in 2019 and was underwhelmed. Tried again due to all the recent five star reviews. Our server greeted us politely and talked us through the menu, explaining that we should ignore the dairy dishes listed, as the place was now totally vegan (yay!). He mentioned that a couple of items were out of stock, which was fair enough. He was a likeable, approachable guy.
Read moreI ordered a beer, to be told that it's no longer offered. My second choice was also no longer offered; basically they only have lager on draught now and everything else is cans. Seemed odd - why not update, print and laminate a new, accurate vegan menu just listing the one beer? Anyway, we asked whether the Woo Tan Scran "salt and pepper chips" were different from the Down the Hatch "salt and pepper fries" and were told that, yes, the chips were chunkier. Great. Ordered a burger, salt and pepper chips, two portions of seitan wings with different glazes (listed as small plates) and some garlic bread.
The burger was big, tasty and came with a generous portion of fries. This alone would have filled my partner up. The wings were also large portions - not really small plates. My "chips" were exactly the same size and shape as his fries, which was disappointing. They also didn't taste anything like any other salt and pepper fries that I've had from any chippy - they were basically just soggy fries with a dusting of some kind of tangy flavour. The garlic bread was a burger bun cut into 4, which was weird.
I'd come back for a burger OR wings, but not both. I'd deffo give the drinks, chips and garlic bread a miss.

Cons: Menu on tables wasn't accurate, Longish (30 min) wait for food, Salt and pepper "chips" were rubbish

Second time here and is an absolute must for any vegan visiting Liverpool! The options are so good, with a real variety available! Had the corn ribs, duck pancakes and salt and pepper chips and they were all so tasty!

Good service, very quick for a Saturday night. Nice atmosphere. The house IPA is very good. Had the royale with cheese plus fries which was a good size portion and tasted good. They also do a lot of Asian inspired dishes which in hindsight I wish I had tried but was in a hurry!

Large cellar with original features, incl wooden beams and cast iron supports, comfortable seating, great for couples or small groups. Excellent staff, rapid service, very tasty comfort food, medium-sized portions. Asian options from Woo Tan Scran great for variety.

It was so hard to decide what to order everything looked amazing! We ordered the royale burger with cheese and bacon with the 4/20 fries, the zinger burger with kebabish fries, the buffalo cauliflower wings were unbelievable🤩 all of the food was amazing and the staff are so friendly! I can’t wait to return. We also had a few desserts all so delicious (especially the brownie!).

We have been a number of times. This time we got the Camembert, kebab fries and burger. Staff are amazing, knowledgable, so friendly and happy to help. Cocktails are tasty. We always forget to save room for pudding, but they look amazing. A must visit for a vegan. 5 stars as fully vegan too.

Their Hot Sauce Makes Life Better! - Edit
So, if its your first time (which it was) it took a while to get used to the menu: lots of options and options for the options. Once you clear that hurdle its totally OK/good vegan junk food...However!...they brought out their special hot sauce a little after the food arrived and life was once again wonderful! All the colours of the world turned up a notch and I was at peace with my fellow man (I liked it). I liked it so much I experimented with pairing it with the dessert. Nice!

The majority of the menu uses soy oil. However, I was offered a tasty mushroom carbonara instead. They also have the apple crumble that is made without soy.

We had a fantastic meal here. I had the loaded fries Kebabish and my wife had the sweet potato curry. Both were amazing. If it hadn’t been a completely plant-based restaurant I would have thought they’d given me real donner meat! There is so much yummy food on the menu, I’ll definitely go back next time I’m in Liverpool

Straight forward honest Vegan Food - Edit
Got a delivery to our Hotel so I won’t blame them for the main issue we had. I accept we can have cold/crispy or warm & soggy sides. They choose to pack so it warm (understand that as if it was cold I’d prob complain 😇). The burgers were divine all be it a bit spicy for my wife but overall a throughly enjoyable take out delivery.
