Fantastic Chinese

We had a really nice lunch here today. The town is bustling with students and parents during for move-in weekend, but Formosa offered us a nice escape from all the hubbub.

The dining area is very attractive - it's simply adorned, with high-ish ceilings and lots of natural light from the large windows throughout the restaurant. The restaurant is calm and peaceful, and the staff are very nice.

They use a lot of local produce, sourcing vegetables and mushrooms from their own farm. You can taste the freshness in their dishes. The veggies are bright and crisp, and the mushrooms are hearty and delicious. They don't use MSG, so you get clean flavors and none of the undue thirst.

This is a great place for vegetarians and vegans. They have a large selection of vegetable and tofu dishes in their own dedicated section. There are also vegan options peppered through the rest of the menu. The servers are knowledgeable and helpful, so don't hesitate to ask if you have any doubts. We enjoyed the nian gao (rice cakes) and a noodle soup.

Pros: Great flavors, Fresh produce, Good selection
