Fast and super tasty

The food was served incredibly quickly which is great for a quick pit stop for food hall-style food. Everything we got was super tasty and the hot sauces were actually hot (and delish). I definitely enjoyed it and would swing back through!

Edited to add: Wish the utensils were wood instead of plastic; even compostable plastic isn’t great.

Hidden gem

I did not expect this location to be so fab! Super airy and clean amidst the craziness of the high line and WF. Great service and full menu!

Delicious treat when in the Hudson Yards area.

Needed lunch and went into the giant Whole Foods. Up on the second floor in a sunny corner in the back is Jajaja Mexicana. All vegan Mexican dishes! Order at the counter and grab a seat at the counter or in the nearby seating area; they will bring it out to you. I had the Enchiladas Mole. There were three very well-filled "pollo" enchiladas with a delicious mole sauce, and a big helping of Spanish Rice. There's a water dispenser and cups by the counter. It was a perfect lunch. There are apps, tacos, enchiladas, bowls, and desserts - everything I saw looked amazing. Great price for really tasty and filling dishes.

Pros: All vegan!, Lots of variety and interesting dishes, Delicious and a great value

Oily

Popped in for some churros and a drink. The churros were very oily but the coconut dulce de leche was nice. It’s in a whole foods so no ambience.

Fabulous Mexican food

Great selection of Mexican food. I had the "egg" burrito while my partner had the chorizo one. Both were delicious and very filling. I will go back before we leave New York.

Pros: Great tasting food, Variety

Filled up after lots of walking.

Had to order using Uber eats because of a problem with tills, but food came quick, server was super friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Ate it before remembering to take any pics.

Pros: Great selection, Very tasty, Good portions

A little hard to find -- but totally worth it

I was next to Hudson Yards for a meeting, and saw that Jajaja Mexicana was right next door. And after reading the reviews here, I decided that it was worth giving it a try.

It took me a while to find the counter, way at the back of the store. But there it was, with a super helpful and friendly person to guide me through what to get. I got beet/pumpkin empenadas, which were absolutely amazing, and tacos, which were "only" terrific. The portions were of a good size, and didn't have a fast-food feel at all.

Pros: Friendly, heplful staff

Don’t let the fast casual label fool you - the food was awesome

I had the Hijiki-Hearts of Palm Ceviche, the Chimichanga de Birrira, and the Coconut Leche Pie. All were super fresh and tasted fantastic, far exceeding what you might expect for food served on paper plates!

I’d happily eat here again - and its proximity to the Penn Station train station makes it super easy to get to.

Pros: Super fresh authentic vegan Mexican food, Friendly and helpful staff, Clean and appealing dining area

Cons: Quick service format with full service prices

Excellent food

The lady helping us was super helpful. The menu has a lot of options and it was nice to not have to worry about non vegan items. We got the Tres Amigas. The guac, salsa and queso were very flavorful. I got the Enchiladas Verde. My husband got the Birria tacos. Both were tasty. There was plenty of seating. As others have said it's in Whole foods but there was plenty of room. Air conditioning was nice on this hot summer day. Some have said the prices are high but I think they were reasonable.

Pros: Big menu, Clean location, Friendly staff

Honeydew Gazpacho and enchiladas mole

Fast casual in a high end food court next to Whole Foods.

The gazpacho is spicy, creamy, green, cold, refreshing and not so chunky

The enchiladas mole have jack fruit, fresh red onions, yellow corn tortillas and a vegan sour cream drizzle

Pros: Refreshing spice level in Gazpacho , Reasonable sizes, Fantastically spiced mole

Cons: Paper dishes and bowls, Plastic utensils, Plastic cups

You have to visit this place if you are even a passive fan of Mexican food. I don’t think I need to say anything else. Get the nachos for certain and as much as everything else that your stomach can handle

Best v Mexican food

Ceviche and "chicken" tacos were excellent. A bit pricey but worth every penny. It's inside While Foods on the top floor.

Best Vegan Mexican I’ve EVER had

Succulent vegan beef birria tacos that I’ve been searching for for YEARS I have found in this establishment. Absolutely delectable, their chorizo burrito is also extremely tender and juicy. I couldn’t reccomend this place enough. Support this wonderful business and take your taste buds on an adventure!

Pros: Birria Tacos, Chorizo Burrito, Beer selection

Pricey yes, but… Manhattan. And all delicious!

Perfect meal after 3-hour Amtrak ride. We enjoyed Hongos Quesadilla (with mushroom), Buffalo Flower (tempura’d cauliflower), Squash Soup and Mole Enchilada (with jackfruit “carnitas”).

Pros: Delightful food and very spicy sauces on side., Perfect very casual meal., Lots of daylight and city view.

Cons: Rather loud and chilly/drafty HVAC 4 us., Expensive.

Great Nachos

Ordered a few items via UberEATS before heading out to JFK for my flight. The nachos were my fav out of everything. Ordered an empanada that was pretty good as well.

Cute spot

Cute little restaurant inside Whole Foods with lovely staff. To echo other reviewers, the food was great but really expensive - I paid around $20 for the nachos without tax/gratuity 😭

Famished inside Whole Foods? Eat here.😉

I personally love the combination of a casual, curated atmosphere with high-quality food, which this location of Jajaja delivers.

If you can, grab a seat near the glass windows for a view and some sunshine.

Relish the tres amigas ("guacamole, queso, and sikil pak dip served with corn chips"),

The Huevo Burrito (""Eggs", mushrooms, black beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, and chipotle aioli"),

and the Enchiladas Verde (Green tomato, serrano, palm carnitas, and coco queso served with Spanish rice).

and come back to get your regular dose of gourmet vegan Mexican food !😄

Expensive but tasty and a nice space

With the caveat that other reviewers are 100% right about it being very pricey for small portions, this is an enjoyable little spot. Sikil pak is worth going for in itself and the house hot sauce lineup was also nice. Rice side that came with the enchiladas was a bit of a miss for me, but the enchiladas plus sikil pak was more than enough food for me, and the person working the bar (missed your name sorry!) was super sweet.

Nice food but difficult to find

I enjoyed all the dishes I tried, however it was expensive for what was essentially a takeaway meal. It was also difficult to find in the whole foods.

I came here as so many friends have recommended this place, and it didn’t disappoint. I do agree with what others have said that the portions are small. I really enjoyed the sweet potato tacos and would definitely come back!
