Vegan Menu - Edit
Very nice location in Siracusa found with Happy Cow. Menu presents starters and main dishes mostly vegan. Me and my colleague ordered Farro Salad and Indiano (rice & seitan). Basic service, average good lunch.

Nice decor and several vegan options. I had the carbonara, la tedesca, and ‘burrata’. All very nice and would have again.

A real find - Edit
Half way between the archaeological site and the museum (both fantastic) we found this very welcome lunch spot. Vegetarian but willing to adapt to vegan, unusual dishes and generous servings. Lovely staff. A miracle.

Great bistrot with great food - Edit
We started with the Gazpacho and the Riso Nero, which were both very tasty and well flavoured.
Read moreThen we tried the oriental seitan dish and the vegan pizza. Both were simply delicious. The seitan was very soft and tasty. The pizza dough was perfect.
Even though our stomachs were already completely full and "happy", we took the vegan cheesecake (with almonds as basis and mango sauce as topping) and the chocolate tarte with almond cream. Simply delicious!
Also try the cocktails!
Pros: Tasty food, Very friendly service, Good cocktails
Cons: A bit pricy (but worth it)

ok - Edit
food was ok, but not amazing. I found the pizza dough was lacking a bit of flavour and air. And it had way too much tomato imo.
Read moreWe booked for 24 and they put some of us in a big table but then the rest (~11 people) in different bars from the restaurant (some of these facing the wall and others facing the street). I think they should have put us in different tables, as we booked quite in advance.
Best part was the desert
Pros: desert
Cons: odd group distribution , vegan pizza was so so

Good vegan lunch - Edit
For lunch we had some really great spaghetti with zucchine. The portion looked small but it was actually quite massive. The price for the pasta was fair, perhaps a bit pricey (13€).
Read moreNot so many vegan options, but the menu specifically mentions "ask the chef and we'll make you something vegan" (paraphrased)
Good experience overall
Pros: Spaghetti were great, Can ask for vegan options to the chef
Cons: Lunch not available before 13.00, A bit pricey

Pros: Ricette originali e saporite, Porzioni abbondanti , Prezzi onesti
Cons: Aria condizionata troppo alta

disappointing - Edit
High prices, not very tasty and most of all, no vegan options! They offer to make some modify to the plates, but it's very sad that they don't even have a vegan option.

Not very vegan-friendly - Edit
Nice place, but there aren't anymore vegan dishes! Things that can be made vegan are the same as in any other restaurant, pizza, salad or grilled veggies without cheese. There are also no gluten free options anymore. The food is good though, just nothing special for vegans.

Disappointing number of vegan options - Edit
At arrival, we asked about vegan options and the waitress responded that it is a vegetarian restaurant with a negative tone. Looking in detail at the menu we found the small indication of the letters VEG in green, which indicate the few vegan dishes they serve.
Read moreTo be honest we had more options in some of the omnivore restaurants in the city and also a warmer welcome then here, which felt odd. In the end we did manage to get a daily soup (not indicated as vegan but supposedly was), the vegan burger and a pizza that was adapted by leaving out the cheese.
The dishes were nicely presented but the soup and pizza were not that flavorful. The burger was pretty small but tasty. Unfortunate that this place doesn't have a more welcoming attitude/offer for vegans as it is one of the few restaurants that was always open during our stay and it was nicely located near the archaeological sites.
Cons: very limited vegan options

Great Atmosphere and Multiple Labelled Vegan Options - Edit
This restaurant pleasantly surprised us after reading the reviews and seeing the local area. They had multiple vegan options labelled on the menu, which was also English, including a soup, burger, seitan salad and other pizzas and pastas that could be veganised by requesting no cheese. Prices are what I consider reasonable after coming from Venice/Florence/Rome at around €11 for a main and €5 for a beer plus pretty standard €2 per person service charge. I suspect this is going to be the best option out of Ortiga or northern Syracuse. Beautiful atmosphere and although service was fast, it would have been better with a smile.

For vegetarians absolutely ok - Edit
...though a bit pricey for my taste - I would prefer something less posh. We both had a veggie burger, which actually wasn't a burger - it was served as a patty + side salad and few slices of bread on the side. It was tasty, but nothing special. According to other reviews vegans should have trouble to find something here - i can't say anything to that since we're both vegetarians. In general nice place, many locals were dining here. Baby friendly - changing table and baby chairs availible .

This vegetarian restaurant is absolutely not vegan-friendly. They only have baked potatoes that are vegan and are not willing to adapt other dishes for vegans.

Good Food - Edit
This is by far your best option outside of Ortigia. Even local meat eaters prefer to eat here over the meat-based restaurants.
Read moreMenu is standard Italian fare. High quality fresh ingredients. Very flavorful. There is a sampler platter for lunch that offers an interesting mix of several dishes. It's a little more costly than other plates, but worth experience the medley of unique flavors. Most menu items have cheese, but vegans have some option and most items can be easily veganized if you ask.
Make sure you come during lunch or dinner hours. If you come off hours it might be open but have very limited food options.
A few militants gave it low ratings because most of the menu has cheese. I'd like to remind them that every calorie of beef replaced with cheese results in 98% fewer cows abused, which is 50x more impactful than a going from vegetarian to vegan. We should appreciate a restaurant for the progress it makes rather than complaining it isn't 100% your vision of moral perfection.
Pros: They're winning over meat eaters, Fresh food, very tasty
Cons: Wine is expensive, Vegans need to request no cheese for most items

NOT vegan friendly - Edit
Every dish has cheese or dairy minus the side salad....(worst part about being vegan). I honestly think you’d be better in a regular restaurant, there would be more choices available. I ended up ordering the vegetarian sandwich without the cheese, which was sliced tomatoes on bread, no dressing. Very unimpressed. Friendly staff though.

A few facts: Food from the menu between 12-15 and 19:30-23:00 only. In between cakes and pastries. There are a couple of vegan dishes (marked w/ VEG), more than the previous commentator insinuates) and quite a few more lacto-veg choices - I liked the Palermitana pizza (Palermo style form the point of view of Syracuse). Friendly staff, clean and bright.

No good for vegans - Edit
Very cheese heavy menu! Just tried to go for lunch and they only had one option which was vegan, everything else was cheese-based and, although you could create more vegan options by removing cheese, the menu was pretty uninspiring. We left without ordering.
