Great food

I’m a huge fan of Tassili’s Kale Wraps and saw that Sevananda started selling them and I didn’t want to drive to Tassilis so I stopped by. I got that kale wrap, house made mac and cheeze, house made taco mac, ganache cups, and was delighted to find the delicious Go Max Go brand chocolate bars at checkout.

I did not enjoy the kale wrap (strongly recommend getting it fresh from restaurant and not cold/pre packaged) or the house mac and cheese. Was unimpressed until I tried the house taco mac which inspired me to write this review. I took to lunch and microwaved at work: SO GOOD!!! and cheaper than the mac cheeze !

also major props because i’ve wanted to try the vegan twix/snickers bar for YEARS but didn’t want to buy online. over the moon to find them and if they’re sold out of the twix next payday, you can probably blame me- lol!

great staff, i had a wonderful time

Pros: Great deals for coop members, Wide variety of vegan staples and specialties, Kind staff

Cons: Can get pricey

Sigh

Sometimes I wonder whether the African American “Communists” have an agenda to drive these folks out of business when they are politically charged. I just want my vegan fix in USA!

Vegan breakfast hot bar

My go to is the biscuit and chickpea scramble. Add a little cayenne to your scramble to spice things up.

Pros: Good price, Made with love, Friendly thoughts

Cons: Sometimes biscuits are hard choice wisely

A Vegan/Vegetarian Paradise!

This health food store is a gem for the the vegan, vegetarian, or health conscious living in or near Atlanta. Although the store does carry some dairy items, it is always so refreshing to be able to shop somewhere without seeing meat/dead animals on the shelves (with the exception of some pet foods). Such an amazing selection of healthy and vegan foods at this store too. Be prepared to stock up on your dry goods like legumes and grains when you go!

Pros: Great selection , Has it's own parking, Friendly employees

Cons: Store could use a few cosmetic updates

Plenty of vegan options

Friendly staff, great prices, a variety of alternative food products. So many pre-prepared vegan foods. The vegan raw carrot cake was amazingly good. The banana walnut slice tasted like the real thing.

expensive

Is it just me who thinks their foods are over priced??? I don’t live in the city of Atlanta, but when I compare the price of many products that I can find in Kroger’s, they are like 10% to 25% more. The cold food bar does have some selection but they are not great, given the price.

It helps to do some research, so you can know exactly why this price difference exists. Local organic is usually family farms, niche farms, and their business is labor-intensive. A factory farm may be able to make the claims of organic, however, their treatment of soil and plants is not at the same level of care. Add to this the shipping factor and how long the plants you are offered have been away from their milieu, their support - most have been harvested early en masse to withstand shipping before they are actually ripe; or to fulfill a bureaucratic quota, whether ripe or not, as happens so often with subsidized chem-ag; or done so because the entire crop brings a better price than harvesting as it ripens. Consider lost nutrients through miles of transport, including the effects of heat/cold, exposure to air, dehydration, etc. Consider a factory hiring machines and a few people to deal with plants, or you have smaller businesses of people hiring people to provide some front-line interaction with the process, providing actual food, and concerned for each item, since they get paid on the value of their produce. These are the ones most likely to feel vested in providing value to the consumer - often with some care and concern. And as an added level of influences, if as science has proven repeatedly in the last fifty years, our minds affect so much of our experience in the world, then if you compare those outcomes (of tended produce contrasted to mechanized produce), we might perceive another level of what it takes to experience nourishment when we eat.

This situation is exactly the same as what once was called 'health food stores' where only healthy items were carred and the owners had wonderful experience with changing their lifestyles and improving their health - they wanted that gift for others and opened stores, studied nutrition, etc. Now, corporate has moved in and offers organic junk foods, cheapened ingredients in baby foods and cereals, and their selves are mostly a desert to those who know what constitutes 'healthy'. remember Whole Foods being called out on the carpet a few years ago for offering 'natural' produce that was GMO? It's about paying dividends to stockholders, hiring corporate people who know nothing about healthwellness. We pay a price for real food.

Spiritual grocery store

This store is very "homey" feeling as in it feels as if its a local spot that hasn't changed much over the years. Like going back home to grandmas and knowing exactly what to expect.
They have really great prices on some items and others are ridiculously priced. Must do your research if its a bargin you are after.

The deli always has something great to offer. I appreciate that they disclose all the ingredients on the label so it takes a lot of the guess work or assumptions away from the choosing process.

They always have a raw salad bar and the menu changes daily. Theres lots of dessert choices using spelt flour which is good for those that don't want regular wheat. Not many choices for gluten free.

They used to offer bomb vegan pizza weekly but it is a rare occasion now, which I wish they'd just let the pizza live and come out and play with us once a week.

Pros: lots of choices at deli, offers breakfast, pricing is fair on most items

Cons: Parking lot can be tight, the environment could use a facelift, Employees should be better compensated to lift moo

Vegetarian Co-op is great

Sevananda is a wonderful neighborhood co-op in Little Five Points. They have a wide variety of fresh organic produce, all vegetarian selection of groceries, bulk foods, and natural health products. You can easily get a great lunch from the salad bar, hot bar, or deli case and it's really affordable. Usually everything is vegan, or otherwise clearly marked. They have vegan sushi, vegan deserts, a juice bar, vegan soup-- Sevananda has it all!

Pros: price, variety, vegan

Sevenanda & Little 5

My favorite grocery store/co-op in Atlanta. Its got a wide range of groceries and has a lot of vegan meal ready to go and a microwave with some chair to eat at. Its situation in Little 5 points - a very cool liberal artsty neighborhood with a lot to do. Usaully stop by Sevenanda for a snack when I'm around there.

Pros: Location , Vegan foods, co-op

A Healthy Place to Start!

I love Sevananda! I've shopped there for about 3 yrs for health & beauty items. I'm now beginning a raw lifestyle, and this is my source for everything, from organic produce to literature. The staff is very friendly & helpful. The hot bar & desserts are great! Worth a trip on any day!

Pros: Great hours, Clean, They accept EBT
