Disappointing - Edit
Was visiting Glasgow for the night and was looking for a place to eat. Seen some reviews on here and pictures of a burger with salad and fries , looked good so thought to go there.
Read moreThe place seemed nice though tables were dirty. But that doesn't bothered me.
Ordered burger with salad and fries. I was so dissapointed and angry after the order came. So basically all we got was bun with burger and like a tiny tiny amount of coleslaw on it, some fries and literary few leaves of salad . It looked nothing like pictures and was not how described on the menu - no lettuce , no tomatoe, no pickle, no onion and pretty much no salad. I was to upset to say anything, didn't want to seem fussy, and sadly I'm to shy for that. They obviously were short on veggies or something but don't understand why we weren't just offered something else.
Well anyway, for some it may have been good but for us it was terrible and overpriced experience for what we've got.
Pros: Vegan food, Vegan bar
Cons: Expensive, You don't get what you order

Nice atmosphere & beer - food ok. - Edit
Last orders for food and I went for Nachos. It was OK, served in a plastic basket. I felt the beans lacked flavour and the cheese substitute was pretty tasteless. The Birds and Bees real ale was great as was the music. Nice crowd and chilled ambience.

ok - Edit
It is always nice to be in a place that is completely vegan. The almosphere was nice, not intimidating or anything (although a bit cold inside as it was proper winter weather outside). It's cool that they are dog friendly. Good selection of food. We had broccoli-ginger soup, walnut-beetroot pate, quesadillas. It was ok, but maybe not entirely great. I was a bit disappointed with the soup and the pate but it could be that my standards are quite high when it comes to food! I thought both of them could have done with some smoothness and richness in flavour (although not any more salt!), and the pate should have had a warning of fresh garlic.

Excellent - Edit
Went with our 2 year old daughter and our sausage dog. They’re kid and dog friendly, had plastic cups for the kid and a bowl of water for dog, who was also allowed to sit next to us on the bench.
Read moreWasn’t sure if they had breakfast and they did. They’re changing from serving pub food to restaurant quality food, since the new chef has worked at Mono.
Tried the Tofu Benedict, which was absolutely delicious. Could’ve sworn it had bacon in it!
The Quesadilla had a perfect taste chorizo and a guacamole that could’ve been made in Mexico.
They were kind enough to fix some Linda McCartney sausages and potato scones for our daughter.
Everything was on the spot, delicious and hot!!
Only downside was that we were a bit cold, even with extra air heaters.
Will come back!!
Thank you!
Pros: Kid and Dog friendly - soon to have kid’s menu. , Easy Parking. , Friendly, accommodating and fast staff.
Cons: A bit on the chilly side.

Great early evening if solo - Edit
I often travel about alone so finding places that I don’t feel weird in at dinner can be difficult. This was cosy and hipster enough that being solo wasn’t an issue, it just gets busy around 6 though so table hogging is about as weird as it gets. So much choice of food too, including an extensive specials board (wish I’d spotted the cauliflower curry!) and few pud options. Chips were the hand cut rustic-style. So good and tasted very wholesome (there were lentils in the burger!)
Read morePros: choice, nice area - Argyle St is like the creative quarter
Cons: chips are pre-salted so may be an issue if you don, busy - most the tables were reserved when I got th

I don’t know if it was the fireplace, or the lovely people, but i felt like home straightaway at The 78. The soup warmed me from head to toe- so hearty and delicious. Go and try everything!

Trendy & Delicious - Edit
I loved the location and vibe of this place! It is in a very hip part of Glasgow and though it was busy when we came in, they made a place for us and we shared our table with another couple! The food was amazing with tons of yummy looking options (so tough to make a decision!) and I will definitely be back some day.

A really nice bar and restaurant in Glasgow's west end. The prices are decent and there is a student discount of 10%. We got burgers and hummus and we couldn't even finish!

A vegan delight - Edit
Had the pleasure of visiting the 78 twice this year and it is safe to say it is our favourite place to go when in Glasgow. The staff are very friendly and the food is excellent. On our first visit we ordered two starters that were coconut and bean chilli nachos served with jalapenos, sour cream, chilli jam and salsa and the soup of the day, which was roasted garlic, celeriac and fennel with crusty bread. Both starters were delicious and full of flavour. For mains we ordered the refried bean and coconut chilli wrap and quesadillas filled with refried beans, vegan cheese, jalapeños, served with salad. Both dishes were excellent and nicely spiced and generous in portion size. This was washed down with a refreshing wheat beer, all for a grand total of £27 after our 10% NUS cards had been applied. On our second visit we went solely for the Sunday roast, which was mushroom wellington roast and vegetables. The wellington was amazing with the earthy vegetables and delicious gravy complimenting the dish superbly. It was a shame to finish, it was so nice. For dessert we shared a lemon and poppy seed cake with cream, which was so light and delicate and delicious in flavour. Our Sunday dinner was complete and we went home extremely satisfied. A must visit.

Glasgow's Vegan Must-Eat - Edit
For me, The 78 is always a safe bet. Whenever I have friends visiting Glasgow, I invite them there to show them how scrumptious and great vegan food can be.
Read moreI especially like the vibe of the place: the reggae music is definitely a plus.
Portions are large and satisfying. I recommend the “The Classic 78 Burger”, my all-time favourite, but the Quesadilla is also amazing. Oh, and ask for the home-made garlic mayo!

vegan pub food - Edit
The place is really nice with good atmosphere, it is really pub food though (quesadillas, curry, burger) and not the most healthy. Service wasn't that good.

Awesome pub food in cozy setting - Edit
Vegan pub!! The place was super cozy - perfect for ducking in out of the rain as we did. There is even a fireplace and some couches.
Read moreWe tried the quesadilla and burger, with soup and chips and a brownie with ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious! The burger was phenomenal, one of the best veggie burgers I've had. They mix soy mince with veggies and the result is so tasty! Chips were great as well - hand cut too.
The brownie was fantastic, warmed and served with super creamy vanilla ice cream. Even my partner loved it and he's not a huge brownie fan (strange, I know).
The quesadilla was tasty as well but I think some of the filling could be served on the side so you'd get more of a cheesy texture. Still, it was great.
Would definitely come back!
Pros: Atmosphere, Food - especially burger and brownie

Perfect Vegan Pub - Edit
I came here with my non-veggie husband, and we both loved it. We had the small nachos to start, and then I had the quesadilla. So good. My husband had the special 3 bean burger which wasn't nearly as good as the quesadilla, but still tasty. I was so full, but I couldn't resist having a scoop of their ice cream which was also delicious. If I lived in the area, I would come here all the time. Very reasonably priced as well!

Sunday Roast and All Day Breakfast - Edit
We had the Sunday roast and the all day breakfast on Sunday.
Read moreI loved the Scottish potato scone on the all day breakfast, 2 linda mccartney sausages, mushrooms, baked beans, pototo and sweet potato, comes with juice or tea/coffee. the rest of the breakfast wasn't massively exciting. The roast (vegetable wellington) was lovely. Good sized portions. We had the chocolate and strawberry cake served with cream. It was dry and not marvelous.
Student discount is available on all food
Pros: lovely sunday roast, lots of tables, lovely light venue, student discount
Cons: dry cake

Improved menu - Edit
I've been a few times and been less than overwhelmed by the food, however a visit a couple of weeks ago showed the menu has been improved. The classic burger has had a makeover and for the better. The only issue I always have is the poor coffee - the soy milk is always split and the coffee is less than warm. So I now save my cash and just get tap water instead

Read moreWe got the 78 burger and the special burger, both were absolutely delicious! They were also huge so we didn't manage to finish either, which was a shame. We didn't want to turn up desert, but we're incredibly full, so the girl working was lovely enough to give us the Sticky date pudding and brownie to take away and they were huge and amazing!
I would definitely frequent this place if I lived here!
