Lovely experience

The experience was nice and the ramen was good. However, during my trip to Japan I had better ramen, even in non-foodie vegan restaurants. The presentation was great and the overall experience was pleasant, but in my opinion it’s quite expensive for what you get. That’s my honest take. I guess the Michelin name is what you are paying for.

Great experience

I would definitely recommend this for a unique meal and experience. I enjoyed all of the food, the staff were friendly and everything was presented beautifully. Only downside is that it’s a bit pricey & I have had tastier food in Japan for much less

Must come if you like teamlabs.

The food was very good but the atmosphere is what made this a 5 star for us. I was mesmerized by the digital art and sound. Small communal table but we were able to make reservations for 2 online a few hours before (mid January).

Unmissable

Absolutely loved the experience here. I could have done without the meditation/essential oil part at the very beginning, but it literally lasted 30 seconds. Loved the vibe and ambiance, and the food lived up to the expectations. My partner had the soy ramen (and I was initially regretting my choice in getting the spicy one) but overall I was pleased with my choice. You get two “free” drinks with the package; anything else is charged to your card (so it’s essentially transactionless and pretty seamless). 100% would recommend.

Great but…

Atmosphere
Dark ambiance with moving art on one wall. The concept is great, but you must turn your head 90 degrees toward the art which forces you to look at other diners. I wish I could enjoy the art casually and with less intention. We should be facing the art.

Food and drink
They served the best sake I’ve ever had but I’m not a connoisseur. The ice cube was a perfect cube and was its own work of art. See photo.

Overall the food was great. The Yatsuhashi (see photo) was stunning as a single mouthful. It was served on a bed of cacao nibs that wasn’t meant to be eaten but I dug in!

The norimaki was delish! It was fun making our own handroll.

The ramen was tasty. I chose the Spicy Miso and my companion chose the Shoyu. Both delicious. However. I think it’s weird to have 2 small courses served elegantly then bring a giant bowl of ramen as the main. I thought the ramen would be artfully presented. Also, I think they modeled their ramen after teamLab Planet’s ramen and unfortunately the teamLab’s ramen was far superior.

Lastly, dessert. They served Kinako ice cream. It. Was. So. Damn. Good.

Amazing food and ambience

A real experience and one of the best meals we’ve had in Japan, not sure what some of the melts in other reviews are going on about it’s clear when you book what to do and what’s allowed.

Vegan Ramen UZU

Really great ambiance and presentation. I didn’t like the ramen served to me, as I am not a fan of clear broth ramen. You have to pre-order your meal at the time of the reservation. I ordered spicy ramen (the creamy ramen) but they gave my order to someone else and gave me the clear broth ramen. No one ever came by to check on us and I didn’t want to embarrass my dining partner by getting up to inform them, so I ate it anyway. When they collected the ramen at the end they asked me why I didn’t finish it several times and finally told them it’s because it wasn’t what I had ordered. It was too late to make me the correct ramen, so they offered to make it right later, as such, I added back one star because it was a 2-star experience for me given the mix up.

Great experience, but pricey

For a three course, fine dining meal with art this was a good experience. The flavours were quite good and the service was great - but make sure you do not arrive early as you wont be let in. The cost was quite expensive for the overall experience.

Pros: Moving art, Experience, Entrees

Cons: Cost, Entry requirements not specified

A Good Tourist Trap

Yes, exactly that. Everything’s very good. Small menu, delicious notes and flavors. Thought out, too. And their Hojicha and Kombucha was delicious, as was all the food.
It was just priced ¥3000 over any reasonable charge, sadly. They get away with it because the only guests are tourists.
The room and aesthetics were small and mostly for show, but I liked it. Food was 4.5, but price is a very easy 0.

Pros: Food

Cons: Price

Great Ramen

We‘ve been there for the teamLab Planets and it was great. They only have one dish. The miso ramen but you can add yuzu to it. Both versions are amazing

Pretty good food

Michellin and TeamLab accolades aside, this place serves pretty good food but not close to the best food or even ramen I have had in Japan (or the US for that matter).

The spicy Miso ramen used a variety of peppers yuzu ginger that gave a pleasant numbing feeling to my mouth which was good. Using flat noodles in ramen though definitely was an interesting & slightly underwhelming choice.

While I am big on sweets and did enjoy the ice cream dessert, I had ran out of my provided beverages by the time it came and made it difficult to finish my dessert given there was no water left to neutralize the sweetness.

The statement on the menu seems very genuine as well when it comes environmental sustainability but also leaves me wondering why the first dish used a good portion of cocoa nibs that were not meant to consume.

Yes I was a fan of the TeamLab and one table setting as many others aren't but rating the food alone without thinking of the accolades this restaurant has received was good but not the best. Come at your discretion.

Futuristisch, artsy, extrem lecker

Ansonsten top! Geschmacklich großartig! Und großzügige Portion der Hauptspeise.

Pros: Geschmack, Style, Portionsgröße

Cons: Verschwendung von Lebensmittel (?), Stühle unbequem

Artsy space&delicious food&still a bit confused

All of the courses were a spot on, just the final ice cream sauce maybe a little too sweet - given you are probably out of your drink at the time.
We tried both of the ramens on the menu, the soy sauce one was simply delicious, the miso one was really strong on pepper. Even stronger when you are finishing your meal…
Appetizer and temaki simply perfect.
As for the service, you start with a short confusing “meditation” upon entering, other (–14) people watching you. Ask for a simple drop of oil, we were loaded :D.
Flow is nice, sometimes a bit too swift. You are asked to choose a second drink, even if you took just a few sips of the previous one. Of course, you can postpone the decision. The staff was very polite, all the explanation phrases are memorised and sometimes don’t really make sense. What is the brown taste?! Specifically the non-japanese staff lady sounded a way more hearty in her mother tongue.
The dinner was a birthday gift for me, I would happily visit again once the menu changes.
Can ´t recommend if you are photo sensitive. The projection is overtaking the experience after 70 minutes, I was happy to be seated the furthest away possible.

Pros: Nicely balanced appetizer, temaki, soy ramen, Tasty apperitive, sake with yuzu and kombucha, Nice flow

Cons: Confusing “meditation” with too much essential oil, Phrases that foreign staff just memorized. , A bit disturbing cleaning with spray

Great Spot for vegan Ramen

We loved the ambient space and the food experience. You share one table with all guests but due to the setting of the room you will full focus on the food. All dishes were really great and outstanding.

If you visit Vegan UZU Ramen in Tokyo I would recommend to visit the spot in Kyoto aswell.

Pros: Setting of the room , Food, Service

Great food, cool space, lots of hype

The calligraphy art creates a cool space. Food was artfully displayed. Appetizer was very interesting, the ramen less so. The single table is an interesting concept. Conversation though was not focused on the food being eaten at the moment, but spent swapping recommendations for where to go and what to see/do in Japan. We left disappointed. The hype and the Michelin recognition had created high expectations.

Pros: Calligraphy art, Presentation of food, Appetizer

Cons: Hype, Conversations of fellow diners

Top Experience and Food

I was disappointed to see that the menu has changed quite a bit since my last visit - now it's just a set meal with no choice of starters or ice cream flavour for dessert, and just two ramens to choose between. Also, when you reserve your table, you have to specify which ramen each member of the party would like. It's not super convenient to decide that a month in advance, but ultimately we were all happy with our choices.

The art, atmosphere, and service all remain unchanged, so it was still a really great experience (though personally I could live without the essential oil/meditation at the start). And the quality of the food was also unchanged, much to my delight.

A drink is served first, you can choose with or without alcohol. We all got the non-alcoholic version, which was a kombucha. It was pleasant enough, but I'm not a huge fan of kombucha. After that, we could choose a drink to accompany the meal. It's quite a small selection. In our party, one person got a sake, one a kombucha, and one a tea. We all enjoyed our drinks.

The first appetiser was a kind of soft cheese on a cracker. It was small but mighty! The cracker was really crisp and had a perfect crunch. The cheese was delicious, you could really taste the miso.

The second appetiser was sushi that we assembled ourselves (it was not difficult to do so). It was sensational, really zingy and fresh.

One of us got the soy sauce ramen. She was worried it would be too salty and soy-heavy, but it was really well balanced and she loved it!

The other two of us got the spicy miso ramen. For me it was a touch spicier than my usual preference, but for my partner it was quite mild. It was a really rich and flavoursome broth, and we were thrilled that the noodles were quite flat. This dish looked a lot better in person than it did in the photo online! Both versions of the ramen were topped with a flavoursome grilled tomato and some juicy maitake mushrooms. Ours also had some onions and okra.

And for dessert, we were served kinako (roasted soy bean) ice cream. The ice cream was not very sweet, so it went nicely with the very sweet sauce. The kinako flour on top was very moreish. The overall taste was almost like black treacle to me. It was not my favourite ice cream ever, but it was fun to try.

We really enjoyed the overall experience and thought the food was amongst the most well-seasoned we've had in Japan. Even though we would have liked more choice, we aren't really complaining about what we got!
