Delicious soft ice cream - Edit
I was walking down the main shops area in Nara and saw posters for plant based (rice milk based) ice cream in a window and had to try it. There was matcha and vanilla (not sure the other flavors were vegan). It was so delicious, my fav matcha ice cream here so far and just 500 yen. They also offered 3 vegan curry options which looked good but didn’t try.

The 2 types of curry are both really delicious! The sesame one is creamy, rich and mild whereas the spinach one is a bit spicy.

Of the two curries for vegans I liked the red one most - sesame vegetable curry. Got it again the day after as takeout. Uncomplicated and casual place to eat especially if you travel with people who aren't vegetarian or vegan as they have lots of options.

There are two vegan curries that are clearly listed and then an option to get both in a combination curry. I got the combination curry, which was delicious. The staff were friendly and the curry was cheap.

Best meal in Japan - Edit
After a few too many tempura, tofu and sweet egg sandwiches being able to have a hearty filling curry after our day out in Nara and Uji near to the station home to Kyoto was wonderful. There are two vegan curry options (you can get both together) and they both the perfect level of spice served with fluffy white rice and steamed vegetables. At the table you can add more spice and nut oil if you desire. If we were staying in Nara we would certainly eat here again (and again) I wish I could give it 5 stars!!!

On Monday it had (in spite of opening hours) a note: sorry, closed. The next day it was closed again, the owner clearly visible in the restaurant looking at his smart phone, not reacting whatsoever

Allergens are clearly listed on the menu so it's easy to know if a dish is vegan or not. I tried the sesame vegetable curry and enjoyed it a lot. The restaurant is very cute, but they do takeout as well!

One vegetarian curry is spinach based and the other is red and creamy, more similar to traditional Japanese curry. They are good but not great. We ordered a side of potato fried salad which was amazing, I would highly recommend this. The Nara plum liquor was also very tasty.

Even if not very nutritious, the curries are tasty and contain fresh ingredients. They are only spicy for people who have never been in contact with chili before. But you can spice them up.
