BEST SANDWICH EVER - Edit
I am just here to tell you about the sandwich bar. It's all that really matters. I have tried to find a comparable one at another WF, but I have yet to find one (the SoMa one is pretty close).
Read moreIt's simple: you go up the the Sandwich station, grab a form, fill it out with all the deliciousness you want, and then leave it with them and go about your shopping. What sets this sandwich apart is 1. The price and 2. the ingredients.
Pesto, hummus, pepperoncini, artichoke hearts, marinated tofu, FALAFEL. You can get all this for 8-9$. Double veggie for free. Panini press. I usually get the avocado for $1 more because they usually forget it's extra and it ends up being $8 anyways.
Follow your dreams. GET A WF SANDWICH.
Pros: Sandwich Bar, Sandwich Bar, Sandwich Bar
Cons: Too many distractions in the way of SANDWICH

Pandemic update: no tofu , no falafel, no artichoke hearts...

Love it ! - Edit
I enjoy this location the most!
Read moreIts smaller than all others I've been to, however, i like it. The customer service is excellent, the hot meal buffet section is incredible! Most items are a bit over priced but hey that's SF for ya. Thanks Whole Foods Market for doing what you do!

Small but much-loved Whole Foods - Edit
There are several WF in SF and I think this one is the smallest. It has a good selection, but the baskets are the mini kind, aisles are narrow and the parking lot is highly competitive. My tips: If you come during off-hours, check the small lot at street level with an entrance off Franklin first. If it's full, go around to the underground parking entrance off California to try to find a spot. If you come during busy times, don't even try circling and squeezing your car into the most compact of compact spaces. Just find street parking on the nearby residential blocks.
Read moreIt's rather crowded and chaotic inside but for sure cheerful, with helpful employees. They have the usual WF selection, including a vitamin/personal care section, ingredients for many ethnic foods, and organic and healthful versions of most things. Vegan faux meats and dairy products abound, along with an impressive section of produce flown in from around the world. There's also a small garden/flowers section by the Franklin side entrance, and a cafe downstairs at the California doors. Their bakery section's vegan chocolate-raspberry cake has saved a birthday more than once! :)
Grab the paper "Whole Deal" booklet at the top of the stairs on the way in and you just might find coupons for $ off some items.
Like many CA grocery stores they offer beer and wine but not hard liquor here. Fortunately, BevMo is your place for the best variety of adult drink supplies and it's only 3 blocks away.
Pros: Has most everything you need, Has parking lot
Cons: Expensive (of course, it's WF!), Parking lot normally full

Impressive Vegan Baked Goods Selection - Edit
I found out about this place on happycow and decided to stop in on my last trip to San Francisco. Here's my Whole Foods review.
Read moreThe market is similar to other Whole Foods. It's a moderate size one, so the displays seem to be a bit cramped. I was so surprised and impressed to see that the bakery selection featured many vegan items. On the day I visited, there were 7 varieties of vegan donuts, 3 kinds of vegan cookies, and 3 kinds of vegan muffins! WOW. This is the most vegan-friendly Whole Foods bakery I've seen (and I've been to many Whole Foods).
The vegan blueberry muffin was very yummy. The vegan chocolate peanut donut was okay. Also got a whole wheat bagel and other grocery.
Downstairs there is a coffee shop offering Whole Foods brand coffee and espresso drinks in addition to one locally roasted brew (Ritual Coffee). Casual seating area provided.

WFM - Edit
I stopped here to get some fruits and vegan snacks. Overall I think this WFM is small, but has a good selection of vegan items.
