Vegetarian restaurant located above the Songjiang Nanjing Station exit and upstairs from a bakery. Serves Cantonese style dim sum typical of Hong Kong except that it's all vegetarian and vegan. Menu has food photos, so you can point to the dishes you want. Choices includes small dim sum plates (like dumplings and buns) as well larger entrees. Has fresh juices. Interior is spacious with large round tables covered in white cloths. Finer than your typical veggie eatery in Taiwan. At Songjiang Nanjing MRT Exit 8. Open Mon-Fri 11:30am-4:30pm, Mon-Sun 5:30pm-9:30pm, Sat-Sun 11:00am-2:30pm.

Lovely vegan dinner with friend - Edit
Vegan dim sum, xiaolongbao, turnip cakes were all good. Mock Peking duck was fun to assemble. Teen son liked the ai yu jelly. Fried rambutan was interesting combo of textures.

I wish I could go here everyday. I thankfully was able to squeeze in a second trip. I just wish I had people to go with to try more things. Next time...
Read moreYou definitely want to get a reservation. I skirted past a giant lunch rush out the door with a reservation. Glad to see the place is popular at least.
Menu is very clearly marked. You have to scan a QR code to order and the ordering system doesn't have the labels but you can easily cross reference with the physical menu. Highlights were definitely the Shanghai xiao long bao (vegan soup dumpling!) and omni pork shumai. I also really enjoyed the stir fried taro with XO sauce, radish cocoon, and Japanese yam and "beef" balls. They also fill up your tea constantly. Great service. Can't wait to go back to Taipei and take everyone here.

Great dim sum - Edit
They offer a variety of traditional dishes, including dim sum such as 小籠包. Everything I tried was very goos. They use meat replacements, but some dishes contain milk or egg. There are enough vegan options though. The interior is very spacious, which creates some volume. So maybe not the place for a quiet dinner.

Excellent beef alternatives - Edit
The beef alternatives in the noodle soup tasted and felt so real. Dimsum was extremely rich in flavor and texture. Vegan dishes are clearly labeled.

Outstanding - Edit
Outstanding food at this vegetarian restaurant (only downside). Went here on a Tuesday at 19.30, got seated within 5 minutes without reservation. The food can be ordered through QR, staff speaks a bit of English. We tried some iced tea (always a good choice in Taiwan). Pork dumplings (4pcs) were very delicious, beef soup was good, the fake beef is outstanding. Taiwanese broccoli in oystersauce was quite good, and the deep fried stinky tofu was on another level, but had some extremely spicy peppers in it. Service was good, staff was friendly and spoke some English. Last round of food is around 20.30, they come by to ask if you want to order more. Pay at the desk near the exit, overall very well organized. Big restaurant so can be loud when full. Very nice for sharing meals. Clear labeling of food with milk an eggs so clear what you can avoid. Many options for vegans

Amazing Vegan-Friendly Dim Sum Spot in Taipei 🍜 - Edit
This was the yummiest food we had in Taipei! Yang Shin has tons of vegan options, all clearly marked on the menu without the egg or dairy symbols, which made ordering super easy. Our favorite dishes were the hot & sour soup (already vegan with no egg), the sweet-and-sour oyster mushrooms, and the string beans with mushrooms. The sesame balls were also a fun surprise—they came filled with a rich black-tahini–style filling that was absolutely delicious.
Read moreI also fell in love with the hot tea they served — a buckwheat Szechuan peppercorn tea. I’ve never had anything like it. It had a warm, savory flavor that was so unique and comforting. I went all over Taipei trying to find the same tea bags, but sadly couldn’t track them down anywhere.
The restaurant was very busy when we visited, but the food still came out quickly thanks to their robot delivery system. The staff were friendly and helpful, and overall it was a great experience. We would definitely come back!

A nice experience - Edit
Everything here was good, but nothing great. I wouldn't recommend any particular dish, which is disappointing for a meal on the pricier side. They used a lot of oil, but not a lot of salt or sugar.
Read moreI learned you can order from both the waiter and by scanning the QR code. The ambiance was peaceful and relaxing.
Dim sum was actually a small part of the menu, with most of it focused on entrees, hot pot, tofu, etc.

Extensive menu - Edit
The restaurant was very busy but I managed to get a seat without reservation after a bit of waiting. The menu is extensive and has clear markings of what dishes have milk or eggs in them. Prices are a bit on the expensive side, but I didn't find the dishes that much different taste vise compared to cheaper restaurants. Overall, an interesting experience but not a place to visit on a regular basis.

Gorgeous food - Edit
The food here was incredible. We wanted to try basically everything on the menu. We got lots of dim sum and then some mushroom dishes. My favourites were the mushroom skewers, xiao long bao, radish cocoon pastries and lions mane mushrooms…..but everything was delicious. Come with a big appetite. It’s a little more expensive than other places but for the quality of food it’s worth every penny.

Good vegan dim sum - Edit
We had a good dinner here on a Sunday without a reservation. I disagree with the reviews stating a reservation a month in advance is required- we made a reservation the day before and were seated exactly on time.
Read moreThe menu is a little overwhelming so I recommend browsing and having a general idea of what you want, especially since it’s not 100% vegan.
My partner and I ordered 8. items including a dessert as well as drinks and we spent $56. I disagree with other reviews stating this restaurant is expensive - maybe it’s more expensive compared to other restaurants in Taipei but in Los Angeles this meal would have been at least $100 so we thought this was a steal!!
I tried stinky tofu for the first time and was not a big fan but I am glad they offer it.
Items we ordered:
1. Shanghai Xiao Long Bao (with vegan pork)
2. Stir fried crispy mushroom and string bean
3. Kung Pao deep fried stinky tofu
4. Yang Shin Signature Shao Mai
5. Stir fried flat noodles (a fave)
6. Deep fried mushroom puff (a fave)
7. Sweet plum paste pancake

A bit pricey but extremely good - Edit
Was able to get a table on a Thursday around 3 on my own with no reservation. Had the xiaolongbao and lion's mane mushroom plus some tea, all delicious and the food was very pretty.
Read moreThe menu has English translations on it which does make things mildly easier when you can't read much Chinese, but the ordering sheet does not. When they say something is 'spicy', it's quite mild.

Delicious! - Edit
I tried 5 different types of dumplings, and they were all incredible! Their menu is quite large, and many dishes sounded tasty, but I focused on just dumplings this time around. I need to come back to try some more of their offerings! The restaurant is very conveniently located right next to the MRT exit, but at first it was confusing where to enter, as it is on the second floor. Immediately on the left of the MRT exit, there is another business that you enter through, and there will be stairs inside that lead up to the second floor, which is where the restaurant is located. To order, they had a QR code that you scanned and you added to your cart what you wanted. After proceeding with your order, the dishes came out one by one as they were made, and what is nice is that you can still keep ordering if you find you still have room. In the end, you need to ask for the final bill, and then you take that to the front to pay. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

It was great to enjoy so many dim sum classics again that I left behind when going vegan! We sampled 10 dishes and everything was amazing, but the standouts were the fried rice and the black sesame buns. Our server spoke English and was very kind and helpful.
Read moreA note on reservations: People say this restaurant is super popular and that you need a reservation, so I made one for 2:30 the next day, Friday. Soon afterwards, the restaurant was fully booked for the day. But when we got to the restaurant, about half of the tables were empty. Maybe you don’t need a reservation after all? Or maybe they’re limiting the amount of tables at one time? 🤔

Great dim sum with lots of options - Edit
This was a second visit we made to Yang Shin on our trip. We enjoyed it the first time and it was in a convenient location for us so we figured we'd go again.
Read moreWe got deep fried mushroom puffs and Kung Pa0 deep fried stinky tofu both times. If you're a bit unsure about stinky tofu, this is a great gateway dish as the crispy coating and other flavours take the edge off a bit. The mushroom puffs have a delicious crispy coating and a lovely gooey inner layer surrounding the tasty mushroom filling.
The stir fried taro cake in xo sauce was exceptional. We've not had much taro in our lives so it always seems like an exciting option. Here the taro had a great chewy texture and was really well complemented by the crunch of the rice cakes. The sauce was delicious too.
The stir fried Chinese yam and eggplant in oyster sauce was good. The yam was quite crunchy and surrounded by soft and slippery aubergine which made for a good conrrast of textures. The sauce was tasty too making for a good plate.
The Yang Shin signature Shao Mai was okay. It tasted okay but didn't really have any particularly strong flavour. I think I was expecting it to be a bit fisiher but I'm also not sure that if would be accurate and the predominant flavour I should be looking for.
We also had some stir fried flat noodles. I really liked them being big wide pieces. The flavours and textures were fine, it was a bit oily though.
The Sichuan peppercorn and buckwheat tea is excellent too.
Overall, it was a good and enjoyable meal and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to explore a wider variety of options. The labelling of non vegan dishes is clear and obvious.

Fun Dim Sum - Edit
We don't have a lot of dim sum options where we live, so this was a fun opportunity to try lots of dishes. We ordered five dishes for two people. We were quite hungry, so I think we probably could have gone for one more.
Read moreWe had the chopped mustard greens and tofu wrapped in bean curd sheet. They were a bit dry, and we would have liked some dipping sauce, but they had a good flavour and texture.
The Beijing duck style king oyster mushroom was a pancake dish that we assembled ourselves at the table. The crispy bits made for some fun textures, but the flavours didn't pack a punch unfortunately, so it was nice but not mind-blowing.
The kung pao deep fried stinky tofu was fantastic - really spicy and moreish. It was our first time trying stinky tofu, and I'll definitely be on the lookout for it again.
The Cantonese BBQ cha siu bao were a bit too sweet for me, but my partner enjoyed them.
The deep fried mushroom puff was amazing. It had an almost takoyaki style soft texture, with a lovely savoury peppery taste and earthy mushrooms.
The stinky tofu and the mushroom puffs were absolutely perfect in both texture and taste. Everything else was good, but not quite perfect, hence four stars rather than five.
Service was a little confusing at first. There was a receipt with a QR code on our table, so we thought we should scan it and order online, but it took us to an order page for the previous diners at our table (based on time and number of diners). It took a while to flag down the right person to take our order, and even with pointing at the items in the menu it still took a bit of work to make sure we conveyed everything suitably. After that, things went well! They bring each dish as it's ready, and eventually we took our receipt up to the front desk to pay. It's a busy spot, so it is probably worth making a reservation.
For accessibility, it's on the second floor and there is a lift up.
