One of my favourite spots in Tokyo - Edit
The vibe is so nice here, I felt relaxed eating alone at the counter. I came on a Sunday around lunch time and it was lively but not too busy that anyone had to wait. The food is that rare combination of delicious and nourishing - the lunch plates feel really well balanced. Insanely good karaage. I had a strawberry soda and that was delicious too!

Loved it - Edit
Cute and cozy cafe near Meguro river. We came at 11 so only the morning menu was served (lunch begins at 11.30). We had the soup set which was healty and tasty, and soft-serve icecream and carrot cake for dessert. Will definitely be back for a proper lunch sometime later. Loved the vibes

Cute cafe in neat area - Edit
Really nicely decorated cafe, which was fairly large for Tokyo, ie had 5 or 6 tables but counter space. We ordered the soup plate which was sweet potato corn soup (fantastic), salad and 2 breads (also fantastic). The brown rice set came with rice, broth, salad, pickles, cutlets and lotus root. Everything tasted fresh and great. Loved the variety. And also enjoyed the soft serve ice cream! We arrived at 11:15 and had to wait outside until 11:30 for lunch, unless we wanted to order a drink and maybe something else from the before lunch menu. We did not mind waiting outside but there were plenty of tables and they could have let us just sit and order a little later. RULES! I would come back for sure.

Worth the extra mile - Edit
Many restaurants are located at convenient locations like shopping malls or tourist areas. One really has to want to visit "Alaska Zwei", because it is hidden in a residential area. Also, it's a bit of a walk from the nearest metro station and you'll find yourself walking backstreets. But, most map applications will drop you off exactly in front of "Alaska Zwei".
Read moreIt's a real activist restaurant, plastered with posters to encourage people to "go vegan", "safe the world" and "let's give peace a chance". The menu offers bagels, sandwiches and some more substantial meals. Based on the advice of a review by "emkoi" (dated 17 May 2025) I opted for the best sandwich he/she ever had in his/her life. And I must agree: it's very good!
Because only one sandwich isn't enough for lunch I also tried some smaller side dishes and they were very good indeed. So visiting Alaska Zwei is certainly worth travelling the extra mile!
Pros: good food, varied menu, friendly staff
Cons: a bit far away from anything else

Best sandwich of my life - Edit
[Visited June 2024]
Read moreI had a tofu katsu sandwich and it was the best sandwich I’ve ever had. So fresh and tasty. I also had a seasonal side salad which was good but a bit bitter, I think because there was mustard leaves.
May 2025: Still obsessed with their tofu katsu sandwich 😋

I lived nearby so I went there often. I think the menu has more variety than other vegan cafes. The bakery and pastries are also delicious. You can relax even if you're alone💮

Excellent Vegan Restaurant - Edit
Great vibe with clear vegan messages. I had the brown rice plate for lunch. Delicious, fresh, and filling. I also took home a sakura muffin to have for breakfast the next day. It was large, filling, and delicious.

Neighborhood spot to go back to again and again, they have both sweet and savory, lighter and heavier things and everything I’ve tried has been good so far. The vibe is cozy and it hasn’t been very crowded when I’ve gone, so I’ve also stayed there for awhile with a book and some coffee.

Escape after busy Shibuya - Edit
This place was so nice to calm down after being at hectic Shibuya square.
Read moreI chose the seasonal drink from the menu. It was some kind of hot chocolate I guess, I don’t really know but it was HEAVEN. The best warm drink I ever had in my life 😅 bit on the pricier side though. The cinnamon bun was good. Not too sweet and fluffy
My scenes were probably heightened because I didn’t have food the whole day and was really hungry^^
