Good for filling breakfast

Located a bit off Edinburgh's main tourist spots, Breakfast Brunch and Lunch is a good choice especially for breakfast as for it's opening hours every day from 8am. I'd discribe it to have a kind of diner-ish atmosphere, except there are no tables, just few stools and a bar.
There are some vegan options, and you become aware quickly that they make an effort to please their vegan customers, that's something I have to give them credit for.
I had a full vegan English breakfast that turned out to be a absolutely decent one, well done and filling. The sausages and the patty were mushy in my option, the consistence could be better, but nothing major to criticise really. I wasn't thrilled, but to be fair, I am not a big fan of English breakfast in general. It wasn't too fatty, that's a good thing.
Overall good value, but nothing that special and since they encourage their customers to rather order for take-away just an option to get yourself fill as far as I am concerned.

Pros: fair vegan range

Cons: mediocre coffee

Amazing for vegans

I think I've probably eaten here more than any other place in Edinburgh. They make their own vegetarian, suitable for vegans, lorne sausage - or more commonly called in Scotland, the Square Sausage. I don't remember exactly what it tasted like from the 25 years or so since I last ate one, but this was very tasty. I did expect it to be pinker in colour and crispier, but regardless it tasted great. I also got a roll with their own homemade vegetarian/vegan link sausage and an added potato scone, with sweet chilli sausage. It was also delicious, and I liked that adding a potato scone was cheaper - at 60p extra - than paying to double up with a meat (or veggie) item.

No toilets. It's a small place but there is a small breakfast bar and stools at the window, and three tables and chairs for outside on a dry day. Staff are friendly and helpful, and I've read they are almost about to bring out vegan and gluten free sausages. They have Sgaia bacon for rolls, and sometimes have Missy's Vegan Cupcakes.

Extra 20% VAT added on if you sit in.

Soy milk available for teas and coffees at 30p extra. I didn't notice any smelly oily / lardy smells you get in some cafes then you leave and your clothes stink of oil (though we did sit outside). I will be definitely be back!

Pros: Fantastic effort on their vegan range, Great prices, Near The Pleasance theatre

Vegan Breakfast

We had the vegan full breakfast for £5.50 and it was brilliant. Only 6 seats inside the cafe but staff are very welcoming and the food was lovely. It consisted of sausages, haggis, potato scone, beans, mushrooms, grilled tomato and toast.

Cons: none
