Upmarket vegan dining - Edit
Pinxin offers something different to many of the other vegan and veggie spots in Penang, and that’s the ambiance, atmosphere and surroundings. You would happily enjoy a business lunch or celebratory dinner at this restaurant, it’s vey well suited to both. The lions main mushroom is championed throughout the menu, featuring in many dishes which made us happy. The satay was delicious (although quite pricey for a relatively small portion) and the Nasu lemak was excellent. The rice dish that we ordered was fine, but rather uninspiring.

Very slow service - Edit
The food is good with some interesting things to try but don't come here if you are in a hurry. 1 soup and 2 sides took almost 2 hours. The soup came first after 40mins, unbelievably.

Try their berry smoothie and cakes. 🤪👍 - Edit
Reasons why I give 4 stars are because we went there more than once and had to wait quite a while for our food and they didn't have a welcoming atmosphere, you have to walk in and kind of help yourself to a table. I think they are understaffed.

Slow service, food so so - Edit
Visited past 1pm on a Saturday. Restaurant doesn't look too busy. Not greeted by anyone. Waiters were very cold when asking them to clear the table or when asking questions. Food took an hour to be served, only when we prompted for it. all we ordered were Nasi Lemak, Nasi Kandar and a burger. Can't understand why it took so long to serve.
Read moreFood portion is good. The taste however is not up to the expectation. The Nasi Kandar curry was a bit bitter. The burger bread was also hard. The chips accompanying the burger was oily. Overall, the food doesn't match the price point

I went here on my first day in Georgetown. It was great. Nice environment, awesome food. After I tried out several restaurants around I found it a little bit pricey.

Excellent, Healthy Vegan Cuisine with Malaysian twist! - Edit
We ordered via Grabfood app. Since we are not Malaysian, we needed to pay by cash. The grab app only allows cash orders less than 100 MYR. As for the food, it was very healthy and nutritious! The Nasi Lemak was brown/red rice with only very light coconut flavour, but definitely less oil and salt than traditional Nasi Lemak. The TEMPEH in this dish was TO DIE FOR!!! The Satay was monkeyhead mushroom marinated in satay seasoning with lovely peanut sauce. The Pearl Noodle item was very hearty and healthy in that the soup was very nutritious yet flavourful in taste. The clear noodle soup was like home-cooked food, welcome to our stomachs on our trip. The packaging was very nicely done - paper bags plus disposable paper bowls and plastic lids with Pinxin stickers for the "exclusive" look. SUMMARY: a little pricey compared to local fare, but well worth the extra cost for the healthy versions of some local Malaysian dishes. Definitely a must try if you're a health-conscious vegan! We will definitely eat there again the future. : )

Overrated But Still Good - Edit
It is a nice place inside. Some of the decor is on the interesting side but as you get closer to the main counter, everything's a bit more put-together. it was well air-conditioned and not too bright. A nice place to sit down for a bite to eat.
Read moreFor a Chinese restaurant, the menu is a bit on the small side. I didn't know exactly what it was that I was in the mood to eat that day but going through the menu, there wasn't a lot of immediately grab me. I actually ordered their Nasi Kandar, and although it was nice, it wasn't really what I went in for. As a group, we did order other dishes and everything was well-flavoured and well-cooked.
It wasn't exactly cheap, either...so although it was a nice restaurant with good food, I don't know if it is quite the "must-visit" that a lot of the reviews would have you believe.
Pros: Nice Interior, Freshness About The Place, Well-Cook, Well-Flavoured Food
Cons: Not Many Menu Choices, A Lot Of The Items Were Unavailable, It's A Bit Overrated

Superb Vegan Restaurant in Georgetown! - Edit
We had a great dining experience at Pin Xin. Very welcoming ambience and knowledgeable staff. My partner who is flexitarian really liked the food. We had 4 mains, 2 side dishes, 1 dessert, 1 coffee, 1 chocolate drink, mixed berries juice and lemongrass tea, all for 167RM. Might be a little expensive but hey, we are supporting the drive for a plant-based planet.

One of my all time favourite restaurants! - Edit
Pinxin is an outstanding vegan restaurant, with kind staff and a nice atmosphere. They are very focused on the ethics and health benefits of being vegan. There are so many great options from charcoal bun burgers to noodles and bowls. I order the avocado smoothie. Just about everything I eat there and the mushroom satay is also a family favourite. It is a bit pricey but for the quality of the food it is totally worth it! We have taken meat eaters there and had them love every bite. The restaurant also has a shelf of zero-waste products from straws to zip lock bags. Anyone looking for a nice place to eat out in Georgetown should seriously consider Pinxin!

Important to Try. Bold, Classy Space. Flavorful, Local Dishes. - Edit
If you are located in Penang, I strongly recommend you try the food from Pinxin Vegan Cuisine. I dined indoors in March 2019, and it was always lively and filled with customers. I especially savored the Charcoal Dark Hericium Burger, Nasi Lemak, and their brownie cake.

Superb food - Edit
Came here as I was craving veg nasi lemak and I was not let down. Top quality ingredients prepared by a highly skilled chef. I had the nasi lemak masak merah (tempeh & hericum mushroom in red sauce) and it was fabulous. Also had the Teochew kuang chiang rolls, and I they were great too.
Read moreThe ambiance is very nice too; it does an excellent job of capturing the feel of old George Town.
This would also be a great place to impress your non-veg friends. I found the food quality and ambience to be a lot better than other restaurants in this price range. Totally worth it.

The high standard of vegan food - Edit
Walked into the restaurant and it was an old antique look. The restaurant was busy and we were anticipating to try the food. Nice warm environment with a large menu. The Tom yum we ordered was so flavorful and it was low oil which is what I was looking for. Would have rated 5 stars but it only deserves a 4 star because of the price.
Read more**BEWARE** this place is very expensive for Malaysian prices. They do have many options on the menu to suit everyone’s needs but you will pay the price on the bill. Definitely can find cheaper options if you look around on the happy cow app.
Pros: Many vegan options, Quick service, Very flavorful food
Cons: WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, No parking, Small portion

Excellent experience - Edit
We wanted vegan versions of local flavors and this place delivered. We tried quite a few things but I had a satay seitan that was excellent with lots of extra veggies on the plate so I could get all the sauce. The owner has a cafe Wholey Wonder nearby which we also tried. He has a great eye for location. Pinxin is located in a complex of old shophouses that have been refurbished and now all house nightlife businesses. Karaoke bar is just down the way!

Peace begins on your plate. - Edit
We were recommended Pinxin by the people at Wholey Wonders, selling it as a bit more of a fine dining place.
Read moreTrue to word, Pinxin manages to balance high end vegan cuisine with homely and inviting surroundings.
We decided upon the local style cuisine, vegan-ized accordingly. The Rojak was intriguing, sweet and sticky sauce but not heavy or overbearing. The Asam Laksa was a daring twist on the classic, no fish sauce meant that the kitchen must have gotten very creative to produce a plant based version, top marks.
Will try to return to taste their take on western vegan cuisine.
Peace begins on your plate, indeed.
Pros: Variety, Innovation

Best Asian vegan restaurant we have been to - Edit
The menu here is amazing! We were staying nearby and loved all the Malaysian food we ate here. We kept coming back. We were surprised with the hericium mushroom in the dishes, amazing! We never had them, the taste and texture is mindblowing. The only one thing we didn't like was the burger we had. All the Malaysian dishes we recommend, same as the amazing pizza bagels and the best chocolate cake (we had it three times, it is that good!). Our favourites are the Nasi Lemak, the prosperous noodles and the Jawa mee noodles. Oh and try the hot Mocha coffee (with the chocolate cake ofcourse)! So yum!
