Amazing small restaurant - Edit
All food is fully vegan and the menu is amazing. We sadly don’t live in Edinburgh, but we go to Soul Vegan every single time we visit the town. It turned into our tradition 😅

A must try Asian cuisine - Edit
Food is awesome. Serving is generous. Complimentary cold drinking water. The Katsu Curry Rice with King Oyster Mushroom is not very spicy. King Oyster Mushroom is thick and juicy and coated with a crispy crust. Laksa noodles slightly spicy. It has thick and rich coconut milk gravy accompanied with okra, beans sprout, gyoza, bean curd, char siew. Gan Lau Mee aka dried noodles with unique black sauce accompanied with chilli paste and char siew (mock roasted meat with crispy crust) and gyoza. Love it's char siew as it does not taste gluten. I think it's made of soy. If you do not take alliums, do request to omit the spring onions that came with the Laksa Noodles and Gan Lau Mee (dried noodles) as garnishing.

It's a small restaurant. Reservation is recommended as the eatery has very limited tables. We happen to walk-in without realising it requires reservation however we were lucky to secure a table as we reached 30 mins right after they opened. Since the dinner crowd haven't set in, we still have a grace period of 1.5 hour to finished our meal. Bus 14 reaches the restaurant which is 1 min away.

Nice place with great food - Edit
I was curious about Malaysian cuisine and in this case it was amazing experience. I strongly recommend table reservation, because the place is often full - this info is from the owner. I had amazing flower tea,Lau Mee and Gyoza as a starter. All was delicious and very nicely prepared. Prices are little bit high and it is worth it. If you don’t know what kind of food malaysian cuisine is offering check ahead their menu because there are no pictures or food descriptions.

A lovely afternoon - Edit
We came here for a birthday lunch, and had such a great time! We were made to feel welcome straight away, and everyone was so friendly. The food was absolutely amazing. Crackers and sweetcorn fritters for starter, and a beautiful kung po with fried rice. Great value too, what a lovely place :)

Delicious vegan experience! - Edit
We went to Soul Vegan on a Friday night, thinking we had a reservation for that night. Unfortunately, we had messed up the booking and booked for the next night! Luckily, the person who seemed to be in charge was so nice and fixed a table for us! The waiter didn’t make it feel like we had to leave quickly either, even though the place was full.

Delicious Malaysian food, nice surroundings, attentive service, great value! - Edit
I can be critical of vegan food offerings in Edinburgh which are often below par, but I have nothing negative to say about this excellent place; would be entirely suitable for non vegans too (and no "plant meat" to be seen hooray!). Highly recommended 👌

Tofu expectations not met - Edit
I heard that the laksa was very good here, but I went for the deep-fried tofu, and I wish I didn't. The broccolini was so tender and nice, but unfortunately, the tofu was a bit disappointing. I was expecting firm tofu, but this tofu fell apart when I tried to pick it up with my chopsticks. It also contained other stuff inside than just tofu, and it was topped with crispy fried onion, which I thought was a bad combo. However, I like the vibe of the place and will definitely give it another go as they had many delicious-looking dishes on it.
