Great vegan selections!

Tons of vegan products from snacks, candy, deli items, hot breakfast, baked goods, meats and cheeses! A great place to shop, but also a good browse!

Great little local market

West village is such a great shop. They have tons of vegan options, including some brands you won’t find in Whole Foods and other larger grocery stores. Check the sale page on their website. They have some great deals.

My favorite part is the refill section. I’ve been trying to reuse my containers so I go to get dish soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, etc. Large refill selection and fairly priced. Also bulk items and spices!

Grocery Jewel of West Asheville

This business’s name doesn’t do justice, from a vegan perspective, for what waits inside: an extensive selection of produce; prepared vegan food, clearly labeled as vegan; and a standalone vegan refrigerated food section. We were able to find all the items on our shopping list including bananas, hummus, and tofu egg salad. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Pros: Neighborhood 1960s-style health food store , Extensive vegan. selection , Neighborhood-based.

Vegan options? Heck yes! But...

Been vegan for more than half my life and have no plans on going back. Walked into this place and could not believe how many vegan options were available, including some products I've never seen before. I was, however, very disappointed to see that No Evil Foods is being carried here considering the company's long anti-union positions, their mass firings of workers without warning or severance, and the fact that their company is now working with a meat producer to manufacture their products. I come here often and would really love to see this brand dropped.

Pros: amazing selection, really friendly staff, convenient location

Cons: prices are okay but could use work, store can get crowded fast, carrying an anti-union brand

Great Grocery and Deli

Parking: 15min parking otherwise you need a parking validation ticket which can be obtained from the staff.

Covid: enforce face masks and limit capacity for social distancing.

The sunflower diner is also located inside the store. They have some great to go options.

Deli:

Near the front of the store in a case. Grab and go options like salad, Wraps, mock curry chicken salad, Pimiento cheese and many more. Definitely worth a look.

Our favorites: Prices are reasonable
Kale salad (we stopped purchasing bc it was always a bit old)
Mock chicken curry salad: so delicious, perfect balance of sweet and savory
Vegan pimiento cheese: not as homemade but really good for grab and go.

Market:

There are some really great vegan options that we haven't seen elsewhere.

We like the local vegan cheeses and variety.

The west village market is a one stop shop for us. We can get groceries, some pre made items at the deli for later and pick up sunflower diner. All while feeling that our health is being taken seriously during the pandemic.

We do wish the diner in particular had better hours. We've never had an issue with the 15min parking.

Some good organic & vegan groceries👍

Good vegan grocery options until 10 pm.
Most of the staff are very nice people.. This place is a solidly good place. I highly recommend West Village Market & deli. Grocery takes EBT card, double up bucks when you buy local veggie's with your EBT card, bicycle bucks discount for riding your bike to buy $20 worth of groceries after you purchase a bicycle bucks sitcker, frequent shopper discounts, sandwich, juice, & coffee card programs. Highly recommended👍

Pros: Affordable, high end gourmet organic options,, some good vegan options, , & discount programs

Cons: At least there is a restroom, but there is only 1., Sell's meat, dairy, eggs, & not only vegan food.

Good Deli Sandwiches

Typically has lots of grab and go vegan options, or you can order at the deli counter. My go to is the Moby add tempeh bacon 👌🏻

In house food is amazing

Prepared food in the case as well as the deli have delicious options with a good amount of protein. There's a chicken wrap thing that I got without huge expectations, but it was easily my favorite. The deli has specials based on the day of the week.

Pros: Deli, Prepared food if you get there when deli is closed

Quite a Number of Vegan Options and Fairly Priced

The West Village Market has a number of vegan sandwiches and wraps that they offer on a daily basis. Back in the deli, you can place an order for one of these. But they also has a number of these in a refrigerated display case towards the front of the store (for grab and go).

Just this past weekend, I was pressed for time and I had to pick up lunch for a number of people, so I stopped by West Village and grabbed several of the Mock Philly sandwiches (vegan option), a vegan No Evil Foods Chicken Salad Sandwich, and a vegan Breakfast Burritto. And, everyone I ate with shared that they enjoyed their meal. The Mock Philly was recommended by a friend. I thought it was good. The filling was actually great, but I personally prefer more filling and less bread, so I am more inclined to eat wraps and burritos and such. With regard to the No Evil Foods Chicken Salad Sandwich: I once got this for a meat-eating friend. When he was almost halfway through it, he realized it had vegan meat and exclaimed, "I think I could go vegan if I could eat something like this everyday!" And, with regard to the Vegan Breakfast Burrito -- highly recommended by a friend: It is one of the more unique vegan breakfast burritos I've had, without scrambled tofu and with things like No Evil Foods chorizo and sweet potatoes in the mix.

I like to shop at the West Village Market. But, I have increasingly found myself stopping in for a sandwich or wrap when I'm pressed for time, because they have a number of vegan options, they use local products and produce (when and where possible), and for between $6 and $8, I can have a ridiculously filling meal. Or I can just eat half today for lunch, and half tomorrow.

Pros: A number of vegan sandwhich/wrap options, A grab and go option, Locally sourced (when/where possible)
