I cannot recommend this enough - Edit
The food is delicious, better than any normal chippy I've been to in my pre-vegan days. There is so much to choose from and it's so impressive and novel the way the dishes have been put together. Absolutely amazing.

No exaggeration hands down the best vegan fish - Edit
The service and atmosphere was next to none. Quirky beats with creative decor. The cauliflower wings were incredibly meaty, my Omni mates couldn't believe it. The lemon pole was exceptional. I've travelled the world trying vegan dishes for over 10 years, this was the best fish, cod like texture and flavour.

Must try - Edit
It’s located inside a fun pub. The ordering system is goofy but it works. This was my first time having fish and chips because I’ve never liked seafood. Not really a “fishy” taste. It was great. I wish I could go back and try the smoked faddock. They also have some other scottish delicacies like pizza crunch and haggis.

Fun vibe and amazing fish & chips - Edit
I’ve eaten here twice and loved it both times! Huge portions, and the tofush & chips are delicious. Highly recommend both the faddock and [censored] fish. I want to try the fried Oreo, but I’m always too full! Some people may be turned off by the eccentric atmosphere, but I love the vibe!

Quirky - Edit
Not a vegan pub but has a vegan food menu. The service was quick and the food was nice, personally I thought the faddock was too Smokey in flavour, so if you don’t like strong Smokey flavours go for something else. Everything else was great. It was a shame to see the fallops and falamari were no longer on the menu they had great reviews from other customers.

You must stop here while in Edinburgh. You must.
Read moreFreaking delicious. One of the best things I’ve eaten. As soon as I read about this place I wanted to make it a point to come here and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. We got the smoked tofish option and the cauliflower bites. Incredible.
It’s in a really fun pub called the Dog House. Sit at a table with the menu on it, find what you want, and text the number via WhatsApp to order. It’s super easy.😄 was about a 12-15 minute walk from our hotel in old town.

The Best and Happiest ‘Fish’ & Chips in Scotland. - Edit
I’ve been desperate to try this place since I stumbled across the menu on Instagram (I’m so clumsy). Finally, the stars aligned with my tastebuds, and I made a point of visiting The Happy Fish on a wee birthday day out. It was a bit risqué to jump in the deep end for an occasion meal from somewhere we’d never eaten, but it was so worth it (as some of the best things in life are)! My eyes on any all vegan menu are notoriously bigger than my belly, and the same happened with The Happy Fish’s. Additionally to ordering quite a lot, the portions were generous (to say the least). It’s fair to say it’s just as well I forgot to have breakfast and lunch because I had a (welcome) challenge on my fork here!
Read moreWe ordered the Smoked Faddock, Battered Jumbo Sausage Supper, Happy Fish Loaded Fries, and Fauxarella Sticks, and we also had a wee try of the ice cream selection.
There was not a weak player in the group. Everything was well prepared and cooked, packed with punchy flavour. The texture of the tofu for the ‘fish’ dishes was perfect, and the crunch and flavour of the batter — moreish. Satisfying and tasty comfort food that made our bellies happy as much as the fishes. The Fauxrella sticks are the best I've tasted (so ‘cheesy), and the dips and dressings that complimented each dish — perfection! The ice cream was an ideal and refreshing way to finish off a happy, heavy munch.
The three folks dealt with between The Happy Fish and The Doghouse were cracking people. Super friendly, helpful, attentive. I highly recommend this place - the food and service was exceptional on our short visit. Highly recommended.
Pros: Delicious food & generious portions, All Vegan Kitchen, Friendly, attentive staff

You need to order via Whatsapp, which took us a minute to realize 😅 But the person preparing the food is very lovely and the food was great! Gluten-free options also possible. Loved this place.

Good, but the dumbest ordering system - Edit
The food was good, I saw reviews for the Faddock being the best and it was the better of the two (Faddock and Funk) that we had.
Read moreYou have to order via a WhatsApp text though, which is incredibly stupid and a real pain if you don't want Meta to be able to read all your data (which they've admitted they can do). Apparently you can order takeaway online though, so I'm not sure why they don't just have you order online in-person.
Anyway, 4/5 food, 0/5 ordering system.

Delicious and good buy for money. The mushy peas are this die for. I got the regular fish supper and subbed in sweet potato fries. I will be bringing back every friend I know.

Amazing! A must try for vegans in Edinburgh. - Edit
First time I’ve had a proper “fish” and chips in years. Fantastic fat, salty, chippy chips. Perfect sides and condiments. Mushy peas, curry sauce, tartare sauce and the garlic butter white wine sauce were all too notch.
Read moreThe “smoked faddock” was so so good, I can’t stop thinking about it even weeks later. Super crispy batter and soft juicy smoked tofu. You may even find “faux bones” (toothpicks) which is a nice touch.
Plenty of gluten free options for my partner, she loved the GF battered sausage.
Service was fantastic, the young guy was super chatty and enthusiastic. He even sent us some free deep fried Oreo’s whilst we stayed for a beer after our meal. The pub has a very alternative and unique atmosphere, lots of good music whilst you eat. The Cure, The Smiths, Bowie, Joy Division, The Police, Depeche Mode etc.
Couldn’t recommend enough!
Pros: Big portions. , Fair price. , Great atmosphere.

Tofishy was fabulous! - Edit
Here visiting Edinburgh for our first time and had to try “Scotland’s First Vegan Chippy”. The presentation was spot on. We enjoyed our Funk Fish and Smoked Faddock entrees. The chips were fat and crispy. We even got to meet the man behind the delicious creations. A vegan must have if you’re in the area! Ordering made easier through the IG link or WhatsApp at the bottom of the menu!

Best fish and chips ever - Edit
We wanted to try these fish and chips so bad because of the reviews on here and we weren't disappointed.
Read moreAs eating in a pub with crowds and loud music isn't really our thing, we simply texted them via WhatsApp and asked if we could order for takeaway. (The menu and phone number are available on Instagram or outside the pub too.)
That was absolutely no problem, they were extremely friendly, even provided us with wooden cutlery and napkins and everything and the food was DELICIOUS! We had the battered tofish with chips, sauce and peas as well as the fauxarella sticks and the wingz n ringz duo.
The tofish is so good, we loved it and also the chips, sauce and peas and sides were great. Just an overall banger.
Tip: The tofish portion sizes are huge, we wouldn't have needed the starters and didn't manage to finish all of it.
Pros: Best tofish ever, Huge portions, Very friendly and uncomplicated

We had the lemon tofu fish and the smoked tofu fish and it tastes unbelievably real. The ordering system is a bit odd, you have to text a phone number on Whatsapp, but the person who makes the food is very nice and the food is absolutely worth a visit. We're definitely coming back!

At least three types of tofish to choose from. Very big portions. You order the on WhatsApp. The staff were friendly. Interesting eclectic arty/junk shop decor, including old trainers hung from the ceiling. If you like clean lines and minimalism this is not the place for you.

Weird - Edit
