Cute cafe - Edit
Menu has a lot of vegan options available, unfortunately I ordered one of their vegan options and even double checked that it's vegan only to then later be told that it's not 😬

Omg so good! - Edit
This place had SUCH GOOD FOOR for both vegans and non vegans. I easily got a gluten-free vegan meal and I am extremely satisfied. Also the space is beautiful.

Good food - Edit
We had the loaded waffle fries and poke bowl. The food was good, however the poke bowl was a little lacking in substance. The vegan chicken was v tasty though and it was a good meal with friendly service.
Read moreThere were maybe 5 veganisable options, but it seemed like they could easily have made more vegan-friendly (eg the soba noodle bowl is not vegan because of the dressing, which seems like it could easily be made vegan).

Beautiful Ambience, Not That Many Vegan Options... - Edit
Project 281 is a bustling, beautiful cafe, with indoor plants contributing to a very modern atmosphere. Although all of their dishes sound beautiful and look very aesthetically pleasing, there are not actually that many vegan options.
Read moreI had the veganised poke bowl, wherein salmon is swapped out for textured soy protein, which had a really nice flavour and consistency. The Poke Bowl also has seaweed, greens, wakame, tomatoes, and smashed avo, all on a bed of rice. It was simple but delicious.
Apart from this option, they have a vegan burger, vegan porridge, and a vegan option for the smashed avocado.
However, for all of its simplicity, I had to wait ages for someone to finally take my order and bring my meal to me. (It was a Tuesday, btw). I don’t know if I was ignored as a solitary diner, but it irritated me a little, although not enough to detract from the beautiful flavours of the dish.
Pros: Urban jungle ambience, Good coffee, Great food
Cons: Slower service, Limited vegan options

Great find for a lunch! - Edit
Have been meaning to visit this place for ages. It was great! My husband and I are vegan and there were plenty of vegan options. Meals are a good size. Little on the pricey side, but we also ordered a couple sides cause we wanted to try them.
Read moreI wasnt a mad fan of the mock meat, had fried 'chicken' in the Poke Bowl instead of salmon. Think in future I will ask for mushrooms or something.
Coffee great, and served in mugs made from recycled coffee husks.
Great space, open and plenty of room if you have a large party, kids, prams etc.
Will be back.
Pros: Vegan options a plenty , great food, friendly and attentive staff
Cons: bit expensive , mock meat (prefer tofu or something) , Bahn Mi rolls only available takeaway😄

VKFC burger - Edit
Really delicious burger with loads of coleslaw, also loved the loaded waffle fries. Non greasy food, good service, easy to park outside, and not a bad price.

Very nice atmosphere - Edit
Had the VKFC burger and the waffle fries done vegan. The burger was faux chicken bites not a patty but it was ok, nothing special as far as vegan burgers go. The waffles fries were very impressive though.

concrete and greenary - Edit
I popped in here around 3 on a Sunday when I realised Ray was closed. Project 281 is open until 4 on weekends and kitchen doesn’t close until 3.30, which is great! The menu is described as Japanese-fusion and there are influences of Korean and Vietnamese cuisines - you can get a vegan Korean fried chicken bahn mi! I tried the vegan version of the loaded waffle fries which were crispy, nicely seasoned, and garnished with pickled daikon, green tomatoes, micro greens, and edamame purée. I loved the way the fresh and pickled veggies cut through the fattiness of the fries while the edamame added a creamy element without being too rich. It probably would have been delish with a side of kimchi as well! They also make a delicious soy flat white. Will definitely be back to try some of the other vegan options on the menu. It’s a large space, with a lot of concrete offset by many large indoor plants. Staff were very friendly and bubbly. Would be a great place to go with a larger group, as there seems to be plenty of seating but I was just as happy to sit there on my own with a book.
