It’s a couple of blocks off the main downtown shopping area. I felt completely safe walking there as a solo female traveler.
Read moreRestaurant is fully vegan. It’s in an outdoor food stand area with other food and drink stands. So, it’s a great option if you’re traveling with non-vegans.
I got the sopes. Good size portion, so much I couldn’t finish it. They have an ice cream brownie sundae as the dessert option.
Menu prices are in Mexican pesos.

We've been coming to Cozumel for about 30 years. 7 years ago we switched to a plant-based diet and have bee pleased with the increasing amount of vegan eateries on the island. We've eaten at most all of them. Konstanz (now sadly closed) used to be on the top of our list. Vegan Barrio is even better (also a different type of menu). All of the other people who have reviewed Vegan Barrio are absolutely correct about this place. Whenever you are in Cozumel, don't miss it.

Vegan barrio is tucked away in a neighborhood (barrio) food court of sorts. It’s not well marked but if you peek your head in, there is a bar vendor on the right and painted angel wings on the left. It’s a small station that’s located about half way between all the food vendors. If you sit down, don’t be confused if another vendor hands you a menu. You can walk up to them and tell them you are there for them. And… it is SO worth it. This might be some of the best vegan food my hubby and I have had in a long while. The flavors on first bites rival some of the finest establishments we’ve visited through Happy Cow. Vegan Barrio is such a find!!
Read moreIt tastes like family recipes and love. There was a sauce that was unlike anything I’ve ever had. It was like hot Mexican marmite. Anyway, we had the sopes which were handmade. I can’t remember the name of the second dish but it was a small pot of vegan chorizo with tortillas. Incredible, both. We had actually thought we wanted to try three dishes but I’m glad we stayed with two because they were full meal size and hearty. Plus it saved space to enjoy their delicious brownie sundae. If there were 6 stars I would give it to them ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The only complaint I have of this place is that they don’t charge enough. 5 star quality with fast food prices. The food is made fresh and is exquisite. The atmosphere is magical. Our waitress/chef was a proud vegan. Would eat here all day everyday.
