This restaurant is exactly what you pray it is - amazing French vegan food. Honestly, it was so hard to pick what to get. The waiter suggested Escargot and Coq Au Vin. Of course, he said he could only one favorite. It has been so long since I had proper French food. I could have cried. Come here!! 🥹❤️

terrible food, nice waiter - Edit
My friend ordered the French toast and it was old white toast with sugar. The galette I got was loaded with a melted cheese that completely overwhelmed all other flavors, but it was overall bland; The ham was pretty tasteless. The crepe itself (dough) was good. The capuchino was watery. The sweet crepe was tasty.
Read moreUpdate: we went back to give them a second chance and were disappointed that everything is store-bought: cheese, meats, canned whipped milk. I know they’re struggling, but diners value quality, which we definitely didn’t find here.

Wonderful Dinner - Edit
A wonderful Friday night date in NYC. We tried the Escargots, Tournedos Rossini, Boeuf Bourguignon and La Bryan Crepe. Everything was great but I HIGHLY recommend the Tournedos Rossini!! The truffle sauce with the "steak" and "foie gras" was to dye for! I also loved the restaurant's decor and atmosphere. A must go to if you're in the area

I love French food so was really eager to try this one. I don't know why it fell so flat. Maybe the gluten free part? I got the salade nicoise which was alright.

AMAZING - Edit
Perhaps the best restaurant experience I've ever had!!! Their "salmon" bites made out of carrot fiber taste so wonderfully fish-like. I also had the escargot (made with mushrooms) which was just like the real thing. The beef burgundy was so deep and rich in flavor and the "meat" in it was wonderfully tender and savory. I also had a bite of this "chicken," sausage, and white bean stew and it was to die for. They also have incredible desserts and hot chocolate. The ambiance is especially nice and though I'm no expert on French culture it felt authentic to me. 100000/10

Could have been better - Edit
**TL;DR:** It was okay, but I wouldn’t go back
Read moreI had been really excited to try this restaurant. When I planned my trip back to NYC to visit family, it went straight to the top of my list.
We started with the French onion soup, which turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments. The soup had an overwhelming amount of cheese with a strong coconut flavor, which felt out of place. It was almost like there wasn’t any broth, and the onions were undercooked. We also tried the escargot, which everyone seems to rave about, but I found it to be average. It reminded me of a stuffed mushroom filling swimming in butter—nothing special.
For the mains, we had the Coq au Vin and (I believe) the Poulet Basquaise. These are rustic, farmhouse-style dishes, so I knew they’d be hearty. The Coq au Vin had far too many mushrooms, though the sauce was decent and the dish was quite meaty. The Poulet Basquaise was better—if I had to recommend anything, it would be this. The meat was tender, flavorful, and had a comforting, homemade, old-school quality to it.
We finished with the chocolate cake, which was good but slightly dry.
While the food was hit or miss, I was really surprised by how poor the service was. We were seated at a great table, but the service didn’t match the ambiance. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy, yet it took forever for our table to be cleared. Our wine glasses sat empty through the entire main course, and no one checked in on us to offer more.
Overall, it was fair but didn’t live up to the hype or my expectations.

Non-Vegan Friends Loved It - Edit
Perhaps the best stamp of approval was from our non-vegan friends whose minds and palettes were expanded through their surprise at how delicious vegan French cuisine could be.

Fantastic French dishes made vegan! - Edit
New larger space compared to years ago. Beautiful restaurant and unbelievable food! Coq au Vin they make the chicken legs in house with skin!! The salade Niçiose was fab too with a hard boiled egg and tuna that tasted very much like the real things but cruelty free. I was thrilled.

The food was amazing! Cute rustic atmosphere with exposed brick walls, a very European old-timey feel. Menu was not obscenely priced. Would absolutely recommend to everyone vegan and non-vegan alike. Will absolutely return with friends!

Christmas Eve Dinner - Edit
Celebrate Christmas Eve at Delice & Sarrasin. The food was the star— escargot tastes like the real thing. Beef bourguignon was delicious and rich. Crab cake was yummy and had a great fish flavor. Service was attentive and welcoming. Ambience left something to be desired. Beer and wine only.

I used to really dread going to france due to the lack and/or quality of vegan food there. So i was curious how an all vegan french place in NYC would do it.

@delicesarrasin is a must go if you are looking for vegan French cuisine in NYC!
Read moreIts one of our absolute favorites from when we lived in NYC. We enjoy it both for brunch and dinner. Excited to see their much bigger and gorgeous location on West Houston Street!
We ordered the Oeuf Meurette a la Bourguignonne with Poached "@yoeggfoods" in a rich red wine sauce, "bacon" and Parisian mushrooms. So rich amd delicious!
Tomate et Fromage Bluffonne burrata was so light and refreshing. And a dreamy Mr Rabelais with toulouse "sausage", Parisian mushrooms, mustard cream and coconut emmental cheese. So rich and creamy.
The savory crepes are my absolute favorite. I am obsessed with Mr. Seguin, but wanted to try some new dishes this time. Coq au Vin, Boeuf Bourguignon are also my dinner favorites.

Incredible French vegan restaurant - Edit
Vegan meets authentic French classics - delicious and traditional - we had the onion soup which was so cheesy and satisfying and for mains coq au vin and beef bourguignon - so hearty. I lived in France before being vegan and would definitely say this place gives you all the traditional French flavours albeit in a kinder way - would definitely recommend!

French feast in new digs - Edit
Loved the old small location which was quaint and charming . They moved to a larger space and personally I think the decor is awful. Very low end furnishings that look like they came from the Salvation Army or thrift store, quite dated especially for a place that is trying to be more on the end of fine dining.
Read moreHaving said this the service is excellent and the food still quite good. Last time we came was in the afternoon for coffee and a crepe and the flavor was right in even though my crepe was cold when I got it.
Their cheese plates are great and if you like rich flavorful food it’s a good spot.
Looks better at night when it’s dark and the lighting is dim which makes for a romantic atmosphere I guess…

Decline in quality - Edit
I came here last six years ago and the food was very good. Today stopped in for a crepe. It tastes like a wholewheat wrap stuffed with acidic apple, plastic-tasting ice cream with a drizzle of syrup that was supposed to be salted caramel but just tasted like sugar water. $15 for the experience, it was very disappointing. At least the location looks very French.

Flavorful and unique - Edit
It's not easy to get vegan versions of French food and this place did it well. My omni in-laws loved it. The beef bourginion is made with a rich gravy and the texture of the vegan beef was good too. The escalope (a meati mushroom cutlet) was topped with a lovely truffle cheese and the cheesy spinach was a nice side. If I had realized it was a store bought cutlet (they don't hide the fact, I just wasn't paying attention), I would have probably chosen something else, but nonetheless, quite good. An absolute must is the baked brie starter! The cheese plate was very good too albeit quite small.
Read moreI was only disappointed with the wine. It was just okay and with the tip and taxes, came out to an extremely ouchy $100 when it retails for about $20. Wasn't worth it at all, but the food definitely is. Wish I had room for the crepes...

Had an absolutely incredible meal here, wow - Edit
Came here for brunch, wish we could have sampled more of this menu. I can’t believe how delicious everything was. The poached egg dish blew us away—I don’t know how they made that egg but it was magical, it tasted just like an egg and the yoke ran and it was just perfect 🥲 the crepes we had were freaking delicious also. The place is so charming, we felt like we were in Europe, and if this place was closer to us we’d come back over and over. Honestly one of the best meals I think we ever had. It was that good. We are gonna have to make sure to come back the next time we are in NYC for dinner and try some of the entrees!! Also service was lovely. What a gem of a spot!

I am also gluten free and had the vegan cheese plate, Brussels sprouts, and chocolate mousse. I was so excited to find a dessert I could eat, because I can’t eat sugar! The vegan cheese was amazing!! The taste and texture were just like their dairy counterparts! The mousse had a wonderful hint of orange. I found a new favorite go-to for every time I’m in NYC!
