GO HERE

This restaurant is exactly what you pray it is - amazing French vegan food. Honestly, it was so hard to pick what to get. The waiter suggested Escargot and Coq Au Vin. Of course, he said he could only one favorite. It has been so long since I had proper French food. I could have cried. Come here!! 🥹❤️

I saw very mixed reviews so we were unsure what to expect. We came for a light lunch and ordered the escargots, French onion soup, Mr. Seguin, and La Francinette. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The one thing the 3 of us agreed that we didn’t love was the flavor of the savory crepe itself. I think it was just a personal preference. Everything else was really good. We also ordered an eclair croissant and madeleine from the bakery. The eclair was excellent and the Madeline was nice with a slight lemon flavor. Looking forward to returning and trying some other things!

An amazing place

Trust a Frenchman, this place is a gem in that it manages to give natural-born unvegan traditional French dishes a vegan twist while keeping the dishes names, and the result is quite amazing. Personally love the Poulet Basquais. They also serve crepes.

Cons: A bit pricey , Chocolate desserts (the strong orange flavor)

Best vegan cheese & scary realistic vegan steak

GO HERE. This was sooo good my non-vegan friends loved it & commented that the steak was “super meaty.” The vegan cheese croissant had a variety of different cheeses in it & eating it I was like “Woah. This is real cheese. This is what will make the world vegan.” 10/10

There are much better choices in NYC for vegans

Escargot it was six, shaved mushrooms, instead of one big bite. Could benefit with some more garlic. It was overall just too bland.

The salmon appetizer was confusing, the salmon bites were OK, just dry and overcooked, whatever the cream was it was completely lacking in flavor and then an avocado moose on top didn’t blend.

Tornadoes of steak

Menu didn’t list that it came with asparagus so I ordered spinach to go with. They delivered brussels sprouts so I canceled the spinach after finding out I had asparagus. The steak was good, but it was cold. I had no idea that the creamy thing on top was supposed to be foie gras. It was so bland and the wrong texture.

Coq Au Vin

Was okay didn’t mention carrots on the menu in the restaurant.

was good and then they put a bunch of extra chocolate on top that made it un appetizing

There are better places to go then for this outdated vegan food and the service is not what you could expect in other upscale vegan places

Not very good

Snails disappointed me, tournedos rossini was good, Crêpes was not very good. Overall, it was ok-ish but way too expensive.

Beware of included gratuity

Went last month with family. Tried 3 dishes. Coq au Vin was decent. Boeuf Bourguignon was not as good. Wine (Cotes du Rhone) was excellent. Big plus is the wide variety of soy-free vegan dishes in case anyone has soy allergies.

Ambience was ok, not too formal. The real shocker was that the check had 18% or so gratuity included. We were a party of only 3! On top of that the payment device had a prompt for an additional tip with the usual suggestions (these days) of 18%, 20%, etc. I almost added a tip because the included gratuity wasn’t shown clearly. Checking the menu revealed fine print that additional gratuity may be included. But it seemed disingenuous to suggest a tip on top of the included gratuity.

Digne d'un gastronomique

La cuisine c'est aussi les souvenirs de l’enfance, les moments partagés, les plats longuement mijotés qui infusent les saveurs... le chef tel un magicien a su ici les faire resurgir en version végétale avec la même richesse et complexité.
Merci pour ce grand moment de plaisir et d’émotions qui m’a réchauffé le cœur !

Possibly numero uno

Start to finish, this was probably the best vegan dining experience I’ve ever had in my 12 years of being vegan.

Oddly, the front of the restaurant is rather pedestrian with what almost looks like a deli counter, but after a few steps you enter a gorgeous space reminiscent of a high end Parisian cafe.

The service was impeccable with our waiter speaking to us in both English and French (my dining companion was French).

We shared the brie as our only appetizer (my friend doesn’t eat gluten so she skipped the bread). For the mains we had the boeuf bourgignon and the “Mr Rabelais” galette (a buckwheat crepe with vegan sausage and mushrooms). Both were so incredibly flavorful and yet so simple; hearty and rich but not at all overpowering. For dessert we had the lavender rice pudding and La Francinette (a crepe with dark chocolate and strawberries). It was just the right finish to a spectacular meal; not too sweet; perfectly complementary flavors. We highly recommend Delice & Sarrasin!

Vegan French food!

It was so exciting to find an entirely vegan French restaurant. The food was great and the restaurant is pretty with a nice ambience. There are gluten-free options marked on the menu, and when I contacted the restaurant ahead of time, they said they have an allergy-free area in the kitchen and that there should be no cross-contsmination. I would definitely go back.

vegan French cuisine

Updated review: This place is an elegant, all-vegan restaurant that serves French cuisine. Most of the type of French cuisine offered here usually is off limits to vegans in their standard form, so being able to eat all-vegan French food is a treat! The food tastes great. In its new venue, the restaurant is a lot roomier than in its previous locale. This is a top-notch restaurant!

Favorite place in NYC

I go to Delice & Serrasin every time I'm in NY. It's a special little place with a lovely interior and even better menu. The crepes are so so good.

Delice & Sarrasin is amazing!!

I originally posted a review alerting people that Felice & Sarrasin was in financial trouble and on the verge of shutting down. They had a crowdfunding page up to raise a few thousand dollars to keep the place open. Well it looks like it worked! 6 months later and they're still here!

I LOVE D&S. They are a NYC institution. They were the first (and still one of the only) vegan French restaurants in the city, and possibly the US. I have so many great memories eating here.

If you love French food, or are curious to try it, itcs definitely with a visit! Every single thing I've eaten there is phenomenal. Great service, lovely tasteful decor, great attention to detail.

I can't wait to go back here again if I'm in NYC.

Always delicious

This is my favorite vegan restaurant in NYC, and it just got better with the patisserie. Split 3 dishes with a friend for lunch - the steak frites, a pear and almond crepe, and the escargot. I had the steak frites last time I came here, and thought about trying something else, but couldn’t because it was so delicious and memorable. After we got some macron and an almond croissant. Everything was exceptional.

Pros: Wonderful atmosphere , Devine food, Great presentation

Cons: Only 1 restroom, single stall

Classic French! 🇫🇷

This was just a treat, to eat classic French cuisine made vegan in such a cozy interior. We loved the entire experience and I can’t recommend it enough! Come through the bakery in front to the restaurant in the back, and through that there’s even a patio where you can take your pastries.

Bakery review: excellent but too expensive

there is now a bakery that operates inside the restaurant: sitting inside is limited to one tiny table with two chairs, but the patio at the back is available for the bakery customers.
we tried 'Croissant Eclair' ($7.50) from the 'sweet' part of the menu and 'Tournedos Croissant' ($19.50) and 'Pastry du matin' ($12) from the 'savory' one.
i would not say that the eclair part in croissant eclair is quite right - the filling is more oozing and aerated compared to a typical eclair - but it was pretty good nonetheless. (a recent discussion on reddit came to a conclusion that there are in fact no vegan eclairs available in nyc, so points to this bakery).
both 'Tournedos Croissant' and 'Pastry du matin' were excellent in terms of both fillings and the pastry, but their prices seem hard to justify. while 'Pastry du matin' is effectively half the normal size of a croissant, the amounts of fillings in 'Tournedos Croissant' would be difficult to describe as anything above medium. the croissants were buttery, fluffy and flaky - extremely good.

the minimum tip suggested by the screen is 20%.

To answer a few of your points, we are in fact working on a vegan eclair (just perfectioning the dough, we aren't satisfied yet, but they are coming soon!). As for the price, I absolutely understand it can seem high for the Tournedos. It is mostly due to the protein being used and the truffle. One of the best restaurants there is

Absolutely loved D&S, amazing food, great hosts, awesome atmosphere. Could not love this place more. One of the best restaurants I have been to, hands down. Must gets are the Escargots Beurre Maitre D'hotel, Brie Roti Végétal, Coq au Vin and Aiguilette de Canard.

Fantastic French Pastries

Went to the grand opening of their bakery today and was so impressed. I had a praline latte with cashew milk, an opera cake, and an almond croissant. Everything was delicious! The pattiserie itself was also very well decorated with beautiful chandeliers.

Bakery is incredible

Amazing croissants and opera cake and strawberry cake with whipped cream!!! And the espresso is honestly amazing. Plus they are French AF.

Delicious and Charming

The food is so beautiful and delicious that you might forget to take a photo (like I did.) We went for brunch and enjoyed the crepes and Mimosas. Great atmosphere. Amazing food.

C’est Bon!

Ordered the French onion soup, poulet basqauise and the chocolate mousse.

The French onion soup was nicely seasoned, rich and cheesey.

The poulet basqauise was nicely seasoned. A bit of fat (olive oil would have been a nice addition to round off the dish).

Would be nice if they made their own mock meats here rather than rely on pre packaged.

The chocolate mousse was nice with a grand marnier and orange base. Wasn’t a light mousse (perhaps some aqaufaba would be a good addition to lighten up). Would have been nice to have some dessert wine on the menu.

Overall good but not great. Would like to return to try more of the menu.

Absolutely delightful!

Délice & Sarrasin is a true gem in the West Village. The food is exceptional – beautifully prepared and full of rich, satisfying flavors. Their vegan French menu is both creative and comforting. The crêpes and galettes are standouts – delicate, authentic, and absolutely delicious. I especially loved the “Coq au Vin” and the “Boeuf Bourguignon” – hard to believe they’re plant-based!

The atmosphere is warm and intimate, and the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. You feel like you’re dining in a cozy Parisian café tucked away in a charming New York corner. Perfect for a romantic dinner or a quiet night out with friends.

Highly recommend – I can’t wait to return!

Oh my gaaaaawd

It’s so hard to find what they’ve done at Delice & Sarrasin. The space is GORGEOUS, so sexy and romantic, perfect for a romantic night out. The service is phenomenal. And the food is so over the top delicious. You know the old conundrum, “which is better, food or sex?” Well, the competition just got much harder. This meal, like a great lover, will be the one we mark all others against in the future. Who do I have to talk to about getting a Los Angeles location?!?!

Lovely restaurant

Delice & Sarrasin is such a lovely vegan gem! We were charmed by the cozy French vibe... it felt like a little escape. The staff was exceptionally warm and welcoming. We tried a few dishes and our favorites were the steak frites and a crêpe with strawberries, dark chocolate, and coco whip — everything was delicious. We will be back to try more from their amazing menu!

Très belle découverte

Restaurant charmant, le personnel (le serveur était français) accueillant et professionnel. Les plats étaient excellents, de la cuisine française revisitée en version végétale, très réussie. De la cuisine sophistiquée. Un certain coût, mais tout a un prix.
