GO HERE - Edit
This restaurant is exactly what you pray it is - amazing French vegan food. Honestly, it was so hard to pick what to get. The waiter suggested Escargot and Coq Au Vin. Of course, he said he could only one favorite. It has been so long since I had proper French food. I could have cried. Come here!! 🥹❤️

I’ve been a few times and never been disappointed. This time I had the cheese plate and coq au vin, my favorite things I’ve had there so far. The ambiance is great and so is the service, highly recommended.

Good food but might be a tad overrated? Everyone should decide themselves. - Edit
Food was tasty but really not the best I’ve ever had. Seemed like a bit mass produced vs really from scratch. The steak appeared to be juicy marbles which I have at home. The way they prepared it though was excellent.

Good food and relaxing atmosphere - Edit
We arrived over an hour early for our reservation. Luckily, they were able to seat us. It is a small place but it is tasteful. The music was very relaxing. I had the Coq Au Vin which was a heavy on the mushrooms. The soy chicken wings were very good in the thick sauce. It was slightly salty for my taste. I wish I had gotten more of the carrots and potatoes. It was definitely good. My husband had the steak and frites. He enjoyed it. There was one server and I didn't ask for ketchup for the frites when he put the food down. My husband was in the bathroom when the food came. He ate it without the ketchup. We ordered a crepe for dessert with strawberries, whipped cream and chocolate. It was delicious. My husband had a coffee with almond milk. He really enjoyed it.

Nice cozy French restaurant.
Read moreWe had Escargots and Cheese plate as appetizers. It was delicious. Blue cheese was my favorite.
Main courses were Coq au Vin and Escalope de Poulet. Both were good.
Crème Brûlée was about average.
I will go back, want to try more food, it all looked delicious.
Hopefully they won’t forget to bring me a knife this time😄

Wonderful French food in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere - Edit
This was really wonderful French food made available for vegans. We were so happy and wish we could have tried everything on the menu. Standing out for us was the cheese plate: Blue Cheese, Camembert, Gruyere, and a Truffle cheese. We could not believe this was vegan cheese! Also outstanding was the savory crepe, Mr Rabelais.
Read moreThe staff (owners I think) were delightful and shared a lot about the restaurant history and the vegan scene in NYC. I see other reviewers said they were rushed ... we certainly were not. They spent lots of time answering our questions and accommodating specific dietary needs.
Pros: Delicious food, Relaxed atmosphere, Unrushed and friendly service

Disappointed. - Edit
Mediocre food, we ordered the poulet basquaise and tagliatelle (fruit de mer). We were hoping for more whole foods, but the meat substitutes felt like pieces ordered frozen from any Asian market. The "seafood" was rubbery and flavorless, the tagliatelle was lukewarm and clearly boxed pasta. The sauce left a lot to be desired. The "chicken" dish had too much sauce and the vegetables felt overcooked. The food had clearly been cooked in advance, which was disappointing given how this place markets itself as more authentic French cuisine. We were looking forward to this place and ended up looking for other food in the area as soon as we left.
Read morePros: Fully vegan. , Intimate dining area. , Some creative vegan options, such as the cheese.

Lives up to the hype - Edit
I had heard Delice & Sarrasin was amazing so was quite excited to finally try it in the new location. I found it a bit off putting at first but once I got past the RED VELVET ROPE (?!) at the entrance and seated, it was much more chill. It did seem to take a very long time for someone to come take our order but after that, all was really great. My dinner date was my friend who had been to the original location and had some ideas of what she thought I should try.
Read moreFor starters we ordered the brie- it was surprisingly delicious, I'd definitely order this again and we got the salmon appetizer which we both thought was fine.
Because we came hungry and knew we wanted to have leftovers we ordered THREE entrees. We had the Coq Au Vin, Boeuf Bourguignon and the seafood pasta, we also requested bread to soak up the yummy sauces in each dish. My favorites were the pasta and the 'chicken'. For me, there was something in the spiced red wine sauce of the 'beef' I didn't love (like nutmeg or cinnamon maybe.)
It's kind of unpleasant reading the French names of some of the dishes, for example I had to get past 'chicken leg' and don't know if I want to order 'foie gras' even a vegan version!
Overall this was an excellent unique dining experience and I will be back!
Pros: Delicious elevated vegan food , Unique vegan dining experience , Chill atmosphere

Ugh I hate it when vegan establishments use dead animal parts names in the menu! Aside from it being unpleasant, I think it also creates some flavor/texture/taste expectations which many times aren’t even met. I think that’s how you have so many carnists saying “vEgAn MEaT is gROss”.

A 1 STAR VEGAN RESTAURANT - Edit
In a nutshell: Good French Vegan food with MEDIOCRE service.
Read moreTHE GOOD
I wanted to make sure I have a special night so I made the reservation on Open Table beforehand. Everything went smoothly reservation's wise and for other than being dropped off at the wrong side of the street, no hiccups no wait, destination has been confirmed and safe landing.
The best is the food period, if you go on a large party or super engaged with your date perhaps you don't perceive or care about other details other than strictly food and in that regard the texture and flavors always meet expectations.
THE BAD
Perhaps they are expecting patrons to be very methodical and know from beginning to end all they want to eat BOOM, and I'm like, can I breath with the menu for a bit? Like, how much time in advance you need to fire up "complicated" dishes? So I ordered the Brie Roti e Fondant Vegetal with Sauvignon Blanc, not a second passed and even before having a chance to taste the appetizer or getting acquainted with the wine I was already asked what I wanted for the main course, I asked for more time and it might be my perception but it wasn't long for the other waiter to ask again what I wanted for my main... Oh great, rushed into making decisions!!!
THE WORST
The transactional and pressured manner to quickly order, ruined what it should had been a beautiful dining experience. I believe people that order take-out from the restaurant are the smartest of the bunch because my dining experience didn't improved with time, it only worsen.
I'm unsure if the tall waiter speaking French was co-owner (logically speaking?) but if he was, either he has no idea what a 5 stars restaurant experience should be like (they're always wearing jeans and t-shirts) so I suppose this is one of those lazy restaurants with lazy underwhelming decor. It is obviously less about the tired casual attire of the waiters, and more about their "We couldn't care less about you, if you leave, another client will take your place" attitude that's really upsetting.
The tagliatelle was lukewarm and compared to other dishes I've had, quite bland in taste. Perhaps adding salt would had save Perhaps adding salt would had saved it but if the Rosé was not able to bring this flavors together... doubt that bothering the waiter for salt wouldn't have been worth it, anyway. The Parissiene crepe paired with Sparkling wine its better on paper than reality.

Very good, but... - Edit
We had the baked brie starter, which was genuinely excellent. The faux duck/gluten with peas, carrots, and a creamy mustard/tarragon sauce (not what it's called on the menu) was also very good as was the beef bourguignon.
Read moreFor dessert we got chocolate mousse, which was really just chocolate pudding. Tasty, but not mousse.
Overall, I enjoyed my meal greatly. BUT as we were paying a couple of young men came in to get a table and the waiter was turning them away. I jumped in to point out we were leaving. The young men were seated and it wasn't a big deal, but it was unkind service. I'm cool with a waiter who is efficient rather than personable, but something about that interaction seemed off.

Service could be a little better. Flavors were incredible but textures were not good. I had the beef bourguignon and my mom had the scallops. I’ve had and made vegan versions of this before and the textures here were a massive letdown. The crepes and escargot were spot on though.

Last time was better? - Edit
We visited Delice & Sarrasin for the second time last night and were underwhelmed. Our first visit was at their old location where we had the Escargot, cheese board, Coq au Vin, and Tagliatelle. It was incredible! It was so nice last time that I feel a bit disappointed this time around.
Read moreWe wanted to try new parts of the menu on our second visit and selected the baked Brie appetizer and entrees of Tournedos Rossini (steak with truffle) and Coquilles St Jacques (scallops) with the La Bordelaise crepe for dessert. The appetizer and dessert were great.
Both of the entrees left us underwhelmed. The steak looked and tasted like an impossible/beyond burger, which didn't taste much like a tender "steak". The foie gras, black truffle, asparagus, and sauce were very nice but didn't make up for the burger. The scallops were a mixed experience. While I liked the scallops themselves, my partner couldn't stomach them.
While we had such a tasty experience last time, this time around was a bit disappointing. Will probably go again to try other parts of the menu.

Elegant French Dining - Edit
This was our second visit to this restaurant, this visit in their new location. Unlike their first location, this one is roomier and has an elegant atmosphere.
Read moreWe had their cheese board which was delicious. The Brie cheese was our favorite. It was hard to believe that the cheeses were vegan. The bread it came with was a perfect compliment to the cheese. We also shared the tomato and burrata plate. The tomatoes were not quite ripe enough and the burrata was misleading as it was thin slices of “cheese” and not a soft ball of “cheese”.
We shared the coq au vin and the mr seguin savory crepe. The chicken in the coq au vin is made out of a pea protein. It had a soft texture but I did not enjoy it. The dish overall was way too salty. The goat cheese and chicken crepe was delicious.
For dessert we had a pear, almond, and dark chocolate crepe. It was good but lacked a little sweetness. We had coffee with dessert, but it was bitter.
Pros: Elegant atmosphere , Good homemade cheeses
Cons: Too salty

Disappointing. Definitely not French cuisine. - Edit
After looking forward to visiting Delice & Sarrasin during our NYC trip, we were left disappointed and unsure the chef knows what French cuisine is or how it should taste.
Read moreTo start, when we arrived the maitre d was polite and promptly showed us to our table. Given the restaurant is going for a higher class level, I was instantly disappointed we didn't have our coats taken (rainy day so we had rain jackets) and had to sit them on the floor next to our table. Brushing this off we sat down and enjoyed the look of the restaurant and busy atmosphere within. After about five minutes a waiter came to ask what water we would like and went straight into requesting our food order. Having barely sat, we were prepared to be served water and be asked about drinks, we certainly weren't expecting to order food so promptly. Thankfully we knew what starters we wanted so requested those and asked she come back for mains. Looking unimpressed the waiter left, returning soon after for our mains. Feeling rushed, we placed an order.
We ordered the foie gras, baked brie, coq au vin and beef bourguignon with a glass of wine each.
The starters were served promptly. The brie was delicious, though the potatoes they were served with were dry and unpleasant. The foie gras was not enjoyable at all. It was fatty with no flavour and a poor texture and only served with 2 bots of bread despite the large serving.
Less than ten minutes after pur playes were cleared, the main was served. Giving little time to settle from the starters or enjoy our wine. Simply put, the mains were both lack lustre and not up to any standard of French cooking. The beef was cold and both of our vegetables were undercooked - the potatoes weren't at all edible in a dish that should melt in your mouth - and the stews liquid so runny it could have been soup. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they steam the vegetables and heat the protein individually before adding them to a dish with liquid added on top. The liquid in both dishes could be described as chicken and beef stock with herbs. They definitely did not have the depth, thickness or flavour of coq au vin or beef bourguignon.
After finishing as much of our meals as we could we were asked if we wanted dessert - couldn't risk it for the price - and promptly received the bill. The total experience taking 40mins without the offer of another wine.
The whole experience was rushed, disappointing and not worth it.
Pros: Nice location , Nice looking restaurant , Tasty wine and brie
Cons: Felt rushed into ordering, eating and leaving , Definitely does not live up to French cuisine, Too expensive for what it is
ConsciousEntrepreneur
I also had the same horrible service experience, I went for Christmas eve and wow… I felt like crying after being rushed, the waiters constantly lurking, I was dining alone so I this confirmed the bad service was not personal because certainly I took it personally. Balthazar is not Vegan but I went immediately after for drinks, to wash out that horrible dining experience.
